Kevin Feige Explains How Star Trek: Picard Led To Vision's Series

As a dedicated Marvel fan with a soft spot for intriguing storytelling and exceptional TV shows, I couldn’t help but feel a surge of excitement upon hearing about Kevin Feige’s latest move. The Vision series, spinning off from WandaVision, is set to hit our screens in 2026, and the man behind it all is none other than Terry Matalas, the genius who breathed new life into Star Trek: Picard Season 3.

Despite Keivn Feige not mentioning Marvel’s TV shows during Comic-Con, he has been more open about upcoming Disney+ series, including the potential Vision series, following the event. The Vision series, a spin-off from WandaVision, has been speculated since late 2022. However, it was only after the success of Star Trek: Picard that Feige decided to approach the creator of that show and assign him the task of working on the Vision project.

As I chatted with Inverse recently, Feige opened up about his admiration for Star Trek: Picard Season 3, a heartfelt farewell for Patrick Stewart and the entire Star Trek: The Next Generation crew. This season was masterfully crafted by Terry Matalas, who later took on the same role for Vision. And let me tell you, it was all because Feige appreciated Matalas’ exceptional work on Picard.

Feige shared, “I discovered Matalas through his extraordinary work on Picard Season 3. I exclaimed, ‘This is phenomenal! I can’t believe it! I want to meet the creator behind this masterpiece!'”

Fans of Star Trek: Picard have been eagerly anticipating Mickey Fontanot Matalas moving to a potential new series, Star Trek: Legacy, which he has advocated for during and after Season 3. However, it’s not guaranteed that Matalas will work on Legacy if Paramount+ ever commissions the show, as his Marvel project seems to take priority first.

Disney+ will premiere Vision in 2026.
