Dead by Daylight's Newest Update Makes Tracking Survivors Easier

As a seasoned gamer with over a decade of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of relief and excitement at the latest update for Dead by Daylight. The August Developer Update has brought about some much-needed changes, particularly the improvement in Scratch Mark visibility.

In Dead by Daylight’s August update, a multitude of modifications have been incorporated, such as enhancements for Doctor, Nemesis, and Dredge. However, there’s one significant alteration that many might have overlooked, nestled within the patch notes. Now, Scratch Marks are more noticeable, which makes it simpler for killers to track survivors’ movements.

In their August update, developers pointed out that scratch marks serve as valuable tracking tools, but can sometimes be difficult to spot on certain materials. They’ve carefully checked every map to make sure the marks are clearly noticeable.

In the August, Castlevania update:

Scratch Marks have been changed for more visibility.

Historically, scratch marks were more conspicuous on certain maps compared to others, posing challenges for hunters when trying to trace survivors in specific situations.

The problem was notably prevalent on indoor maps and those featuring cornfields, such as those found in the Coldwind Farm Realm, as several users have noted. In fact, some users have asserted that they quit playing the role of the killer when these types of maps come up.

It’s hard for killers to see scratch marks in the corn fields

Could we possibly discuss the farm maps? Can we finally replace the corn fields and enhance the scratch marks for better visibility? I plan to disconnect intentionally on those specific maps due to their poor quality.

I’m delighted to announce that this new update should enhance the visibility of Scratch Marks across all maps, making it easier for killers to trace their victims. This map-wide improvement is aimed at ensuring that killers can maintain their pursuit, regardless of the playing terrain. In addition to this, the August Developer update brings significant changes: Hook stages have been extended by 20 seconds, giving survivors more time before they succumb to death when caught on a hook. Furthermore, several killers have received buffs in this update.

The August Developer update is coming to the game later this month in the Castlevania PTB.
