Varun Dhawan, Samantha’s ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ From Russo Bros and Raj & DK, Sets Prime Video Streaming Date (EXCLUSIVE)

As a die-hard fan of Indian cinema and a nostalgic 90’s kid, I can hardly contain my excitement for “Citadel: Honey Bunny”! The blend of action, romance, and a dash of espionage set against the vibrant backdrop of the ’90s promises an unforgettable ride. With Varun Dhawan and Samantha in lead roles, the series is poised to deliver top-notch performances.

As a passionate cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve marked my calendar for the global debut of “Citadel: Honey Bunny,” the Indian addition to the captivating “Citadel” series. In this instalment, we’ll be following the gripping journey of Varun Dhawan and Samantha, two mesmerizing stars who will undoubtedly bring the story to life.

The television show set in the universe of “Citadel,” which is Indian-origin, is helmed by directors Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. (commonly known as Raj & DK). Sita R. Menon collaborates with them on the scriptwriting, while the series is penned collectively. D2R Films, Amazon MGM Studios, and AGBO, under the Russo Brothers’ leadership, are responsible for its production.

As a follower in this creative endeavor, I’m part of the team that includes Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, and Scott Nemes from AGBO, along with David Weil (“Hunters”), in producing “Citadel: Honey Bunny” and all series within the “Citadel” universe. Midnight Radio is also a part of our executive producer team.

As a film enthusiast with years of experience under my belt, I must admit that I am genuinely excited about this upcoming movie. The ensemble cast is nothing short of impressive, boasting names like Kay Kay Menon, Simran, Saqib Saleem, Sikandar Kher, Soham Majumdar, Shivankit Parihar, and Kashvi Majmundar. Each actor brings a unique talent and charisma to the table, promising a captivating viewing experience. I’ve been following the careers of some of these actors for quite some time now, and I can confidently say that this collaboration is bound to create magic on the silver screen. The diverse backgrounds and acting styles of these artists will undoubtedly lead to compelling performances, making the movie a must-watch for any cinephile like myself.

Amazon’s Prime Video announced the release date for “Citadel: Honey Bunny” at a fan gathering in Mumbai, and they also shared a sneak peek of the series. This series combines the excitement of a spy-action-thriller with a romantic storyline, all set in the 1990s era.

Nikhil Madhok, the chief of original content at Prime Video India, stated: “The Indian part of ‘Citadel’ weaves together the enchanting appeal of the ’90s with a compelling storyline and mesmerizing performances by Samantha as Honey, Varun as Bunny, and the entire acting troupe. This fictional series will transport viewers to the origins of this secretive global spy agency, exploring its inception, operations, impact, and growth – all while maintaining the unique, captivating style that Raj & DK have come to be known for.”

Samantha featured prominently in the second season of Raj & DK’s Amazon Prime Video show “The Family Man,” and Menon had a significant part in another Prime Video series from the same creators, titled “Farzi.”

As a film enthusiast, I’m ecstatic to announce that “Citadel: Honey Bunny” delivers a riveting mix of raw action, heart-pounding drama, and outstanding performances. The charismatic Varun takes on the role of an edgy action hero, while Samantha pushes her action skills to new heights. Additionally, I’m overjoyed to collaborate with Kay Kay Menon once more, and we are beyond fortunate to have such a stellar cast on board for this exciting project!

“After the debut of ‘Citadel: Diana’ on Oct. 10 (an Italian spin-off), comes ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’, a part of the same universe as the original ‘Citadel’ series which premiered in 2023, starring Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. A new season for this show is planned for this year, with Joe Russo taking the director’s chair.”

Nov. 7 has been set as the global premiere date for “Citadel: Honey Bunny.”
