Destiny 2 Perfect Paradox God Roll Guide

As a seasoned Guardian with countless hours spent in the crucible and exploring the vast cosmos of Destiny 2, I can confidently say that Perfect Paradox has been one of my favorite weapons since its debut back in the Curse of Osiris expansion. Now, with Echoes Act 2 bringing a fresh pool of perks to this powerhouse shotgun, it’s once again become a staple in my loadout – particularly for melee-centric builds in PvE.

In Destiny 2, Saint-14’s shotgun, named Perfect Paradox, was a formidable force during the Curse of Osiris expansion and Season of Dawn. After some time away, it has returned in Echoes Act 2 with an updated perk set. Even now, when wielded correctly, it remains a powerful weapon, especially for players who favor melee-oriented builds, particularly in PvE gameplay. Here’s a guide on acquiring Perfect Paradox and the optimal rolls to pursue.

How To Get Perfect Paradox

In this current season, just like other weapons that have returned from Season of Dawn, Perfect Paradox is now available within the general loot system. This means you can acquire it by participating in activities related to the episode, such as Breach Executable, Enigma Protocol, or the newly introduced missions on Nessus Battlegrounds. In simpler terms, you might be lucky enough to receive Perfect Paradox as a reward when completing these specific missions.

The Perfect Paradox is a definite reward for finishing the tale of Echoes Act 2. No matter what happens, wrapping up the episode’s story missions will earn you one. After it appears in your loot inventory, you can interact with Failsafe in the HELM to refocus Echoes engrams into fresh Perfect Paradox variants.

  • Magazine: Tactical Mag
    • +10 Reload Speed, +5 Stability, +1 Magazine
  • First Perk: Dual Loader / Pugilist
    • Dual Loader: Reloads an additional shot at a time
    • Pugilist: Final blows with this weapon grant melee energy
  • Second Perk: One-Two Punch / Trench Barrel / Swashbuckler
    • One-Two Punch: Hitting a target with every shotgun pellet in a shot increases melee damage for a short duration.
    • Trench Barrel: After a successful melee hit, this weapon gains increased damage, range, and handling for a short duration, or until three shots are fired.
    • Swashbuckler: This weapon gains increased damage from melee kills and kills with this weapon.
  • Masterwork: Handling / Reload Speed

The Perfect Paradox functions as both a firearm and a melee weapon, and it performs exceptionally well in these roles. It boasts numerous perks that sync perfectly with the punch-shoot sequence, making it versatile no matter which perk you choose. Ultimately, your choice depends on your unique gameplay style and how you prefer to utilize this gun.

As a gamer, I’d say in my loadout, Dual Loader in the first perk slot is a versatile choice that speeds up my weapon reloading, especially when combined with a Reload Speed Masterwork. But if I’m playing as Pugilist, I might opt for a different synergy depending on how I use my weapon. You see, Perfect Paradox kills grant me melee charge – so it’s all about finding the right balance!

In the second column, you’ll find three perks: One-Two Punch amplifies your melee significantly when you hit an enemy with every pellet in a shotgun blast, making it ideal for tackling bosses and tougher opponents in a melee-centric damage setup. Trench Barrel boosts Perfect Paradox’s damage whenever you punch an enemy, so choose this perk if you prefer the shotgun to do most of the heavy lifting. Lastly, Swashbuckler increases the shotgun’s damage upon obtaining melee kills or kills with Perfect Paradox; opt for this choice if your playstyle is more focused on clearing smaller enemies using melee attacks.

Perfect Paradox PvP God Roll

  • Barrel: Smallbore / Corkscrew Rifling
    • Smallbore: +7 Range, +7 Stability
    • Corkscrew Rifling: +5 Range, +5 Stability, +5 Handling
  • Magazine: Accurized Rounds
    • +10 Range
  • First Perk: Slideshot
    • Sliding partially reloads this weapon’s magazine and temporarily boosts range and stability.
  • Second Perk: Opening Shot
    • Improved accuracy and range on the opening shot of an attack.
  • Masterwork: Range

The Perfect Paradox isn’t quite the standout in PvP combat like it is in PvE, but it remains a potent shotgun. It sports the traditional Slideshot and Opening Shot perks, which can substantially enhance its range and precision. In tight, corner-turning situations, this weapon is a formidable choice for those swift, one-shot eliminations of surprised enemies or for swift follow-up attacks with a punch to secure the kill.

While there might be superior PvP shotguns available, Perfect Paradox is not automatically a poor choice. It’s crucial to focus on boosting its Range attribute when considering it for the Crucible. This will enhance your ability to score kills in close quarters.
