Fable & Forza Horizon Dev Playground Games Reportedly Opens New Studio

As a seasoned gaming enthusiast with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation and curiosity about Playground Games‘ latest move. The news of their third studio tucked away on LinkedIn, yet conspicuously absent from their official website, has me scratching my head.

Playground Studios, creators of the exclusive racing series Forza Horizon on Xbox, are pushing forward with their upcoming game Fable, scheduled for release in 2025 across Xbox consoles, PC, and Xbox Game Pass. Notably, there’s been a buzz as the team appears to have established a new development studio in the United Kingdom.

The initial report on this news by Wccftech indicates that the details come from the studio’s LinkedIn page. However, there’s a twist: while their LinkedIn profile suggests the establishment of a new studio in Leamington Spa, this information seems to be absent from their main website.

As a devoted fan following Wcctech’s updates, I’ve noticed an intriguing discrepancy between Playground Studios’ LinkedIn and website pages. While their LinkedIn page proudly announces, “Today, we have three world-class studios in Leamington Spa,” their official website only mentions the two studios located in Leamington Spa. It seems there might be some news about the opening of their third studio that hasn’t been reflected on the website yet!

It’s still uncertain why Playground Games hasn’t disclosed a third studio; however, we do know what the two existing teams are focusing on. The team stationed at their original headquarters is dedicated to continuing work and offering support for the Forza Horizon series. Meanwhile, their second studio has a team actively engaged in developing the next installment of Fable, as per their official website.

It remains uncertain what project the third studio in Leamington Spa is currently developing, or if they have established a team at their latest location. However, they’re carrying on with regular operations, having recently introduced the “Cars & Coffee” season for Forza Horizon 5. This update includes a fresh map, additional challenges, rewards, and a new car pack focusing on Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) vehicles.

Regarding Fable, the forthcoming action RPG, it was recently featured during the Xbox Games Showcase in June 2024. Although Playground Games or Xbox have yet to set a release date, Eidos-Montréal has disclosed that they are collaborating with the development team to assist them in the creation of this upcoming game.
