Seth Meyers Sets First HBO Comedy Special

As a devoted cinema enthusiast with a soft spot for stand-up comedy, I couldn’t be more thrilled to hear that Seth Meyers is making his debut comedy special with HBO! With his impressive background at Saturday Night Live and as the current host of Late Night, it’s no surprise that he’s partnering with the esteemed network for this project.

Seth Meyers has set his debut comedy special with HBO.

A well-known late-night TV host, who has also appeared on “Saturday Night Live,” recorded his stand-up comedy show for an hour in front of a live audience at Chicago’s Vic Theatre.

The special will debut sometime this fall on HBO and will be available to stream on Max.

“Critics suggest that this is an experience my children may discuss during their therapy sessions, twenty years down the line,” Meyers joked.

Neal Brennan, who is known for co-creating “Comic” and “The Chappelle Show,” takes the helm in directing this special. The script was penned by Jimmy Fallon, while Irwin Entertainment handles production. Additionally, Sethmaker Shoemeyers Productions, a collaboration between Fallon and Mike Shoemaker, also contributes to its production.

Statement from Nina Rosenstein, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming (Late Night and Specials): “We’re thrilled to collaborate with Seth for his debut HBO special! He’s a captivating storyteller who has the unique ability to connect deeply with his audience. This upcoming special resonates with everyone and is simply delightful to watch.”

Before taking over as host of NBC’s “Late Night” in 2014, Seth Meyers served as head writer for “Saturday Night Live” and anchored its popular “Weekend Update” segment. In 2019, he made his stand-up comedy debut with the Netflix special “Lobby Baby,” earning an Emmy nomination for best writing in a variety special. To date, Meyers has amassed a total of 33 Emmy nominations. Additionally, he wrote and published a children’s book titled “I’m Not Scared, You’re Scared” in 2022, and currently co-hosts two podcasts: “Family Trips with the Meyers Brothers” and “The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast.”
