As a long-time Marvel fanatic who’s seen more than my fair share of comic book movies, I must say, the latest tease about Captain America: Brave New World has me absolutely giddy! Anthony Mackie’s interview with EW seems to have accidentally dropped a massive spoiler about none other than the Hulk gracing our screens once again.
Next year, Captain America: New World Order with Chris Evans as Captain America is set to advance the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The upcoming action film featuring Anthony Mackie could also welcome back some beloved characters. Intriguingly, Mackie might have inadvertently revealed a significant twist for the production.

In conversation with EW, Anthony Mackie appears to hint at the possibility of the Hulk (played by Mark Ruffalo) appearing in Captain America: Brave New World, as pointed out by Austin Medeiros on X. When questioned about how The Incredible Hulk from 2008 could be relevant to Captain America 4, Mackie replies that “It’s a different film, just like he’s green and I’m black.”

Intriguingly, it’s at this point that Mackie’s conversation takes an interesting turn. He goes on to say, “If and when he makes an appearance,” before Harrison Ford, portraying Thaddeus Ross and the Red Hulk in the film, interrupts. In response, Mackie clarifies, “Not Red Hulk, but the other Hulk. You see, there are multiple Hulks. So when he appears…”, only for Ford to interrupt once more. Later, Mackie explains, “When he arrives, his world, his cosmos, his narrative is entirely distinct from how we incorporate him in our story.”
Mackie repeatedly refers to a person who appears to be the Hulk, although he doesn’t directly state it. Ford seems to be attempting to prevent Mackie from disclosing this information with his interjections, but it could also be that Ford is simply teasing.
As a devoted fan, I must admit that it wouldn’t surprise me if the Hulk were to share screen time with Captain America in Brave New World. Intriguingly, earlier this year, Ruffalo himself hinted at the Hulk’s presence in the film, only for a later report to suggest that his remarks might have been misconstrued.
