Ahoy there, fellow adventurers! As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent exploring the enchanting realm of Eorzea, I can’t help but share my thoughts on the latest updates to Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV).
As a devoted fan of Final Fantasy XIV, I’ve been immersed in the captivating world of the Dawntrail expansion, savoring every new feature it offers. Yet, amidst all the excitement, there’s been a lingering anticipation—the temporary closure of Data Center travel due to overpopulated servers. Now, with the arrival of the 7.05 patch, I can’t help but ponder: Has the Data Center Travel resumed operation once more?
Which Data Centers can be traveled to in FFXIV?
For those FFXIV players pondering when global Data Center Travel will resume after its closure following Dawntrail’s launch, here’s some good news: As of Patch 7.05, these travel restrictions have been removed! Now, you’re free to visit any Data Center or World you choose without limitations. This is particularly exciting for Dynamis players who have felt isolated since the addition of the new Data Center.
Hey fellow gamers, here’s the scoop! While we’re all thrilled that travel within the game is back up and running, there’s a slight twist as announced on The Lodestone. To ensure a fair balance of players across all Worlds and Data Centers, new rules have been implemented. These changes are aimed at creating a more evenly distributed gaming experience for everyone. Let’s adapt together and keep the fun rolling!
According to global rankings, designating a World Server in a particular Data Center as “congested” results in fewer players being able to visit that World compared to “preferred” Worlds. The latter have lower overall traffic.
The Lodestone announcement dictates it as follows:
Standard Worlds with no Congested Worlds within the same Logical Data Center
- World Visit Login Capacity: Standard
- Data Center Travel Login Capacity: Standard
Standard Worlds with one or more Congested Worlds within the same Logical Data Center
- World Visit Login Capacity: Standard
- Data Center Travel Login Capacity: Greatly Reduced
New and Preferred Worlds
- World Visit Login Capacity: Standard
- Data Center Travel Login Capacity: Increased
Congested Worlds
- World Visit Login Capacity: Reduced
- Data Center Travel Login Capacity: Greatly Reduced
To prevent server traffic from fluctuating excessively and requiring additional restrictions, it’s essential to follow these new rules temporarily. Whether these regulations become permanent or not is uncertain, but they will stay in effect for an extended period, allowing servers, especially newer ones, to stabilize.
As a gamer, I’d recommend visiting a frequently crowded Data Center or World Server during off-peak hours if you want to minimize travel difficulties. Early mornings and late at night are usually less busy times. Keep in mind that if you’re transitioning from another congested World, consider the timing of your return journey carefully, as getting stuck unexpectedly in traffic is a real possibility.
1. If you attempt to visit a crowded data center, certain World Servers inside it might be offline due to heavy traffic. But don’t worry, you can still access these servers once you’re already within the data center. You may encounter error messages related to traffic, but persisting for a few tries should successfully connect you to your desired location.
