‘Young Sherlock’ Amazon Series Casts ‘Wheel of Time’ Actor Dónal Finn (EXCLUSIVE)

As a seasoned movie critic with a deep appreciation for classic literature and a soft spot for British productions, I must say that I am thrilled to learn about Dónal Finn’s addition to Amazon Prime Video’s “Young Sherlock” series. Finn’s casting as the notorious arch-nemesis of Sherlock Holmes, James Moriarty, is an inspired choice that speaks volumes about his versatility and range as an actor.

The “Young Sherlock” series on Amazon Prime Video has announced the addition of Dónal Finn to its cast, according to exclusive information obtained by EbMaster.

Drawing inspiration from Andrew Lane’s “Young Sherlock Holmes” book series, Finn has landed the part of James Moriarty, the infamous arch-nemesis of detective Sherlock Holmes. Previously, it was announced that Sherlock Holmes will be portrayed by Hero Fiennes Tiffin.

At nineteen, Sherlock Holmes is depicted in “Young Sherlock” as being young, unrefined, and untamed. He becomes entangled in a murder investigation at Oxford University which jeopardizes his future. Eagerly diving into his initial case without restraint, Sherlock successfully solves a complex conspiracy that sets the stage for an extraordinary transformation in his life.

In addition to the main actors, the series features Joseph Fiennes, Natascha McElhone, Colin Firth, and Zine Tseng.

1. Finn is embarking on his second Amazon series, having previously starred in “The Wheel of Time” as Mat Cauthon starting from its second season. His other acting credits include “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore,” “The Witcher,” and “How to Build a Girl.” Currently, he’s playing a role in the West End production of “Hadestown,” with his last performance scheduled for August 25.

Finn is repped by Independent Talent Group and Felker Toczek.

Matthew Parkhill holds the roles of writer, executive producer, and showrunner for “Young Sherlock.” Guy Ritchie takes on the duties of director and executive producer. Additionally, Simon Kelton, Ivan Atkinson, Simon Maxwell, Dhana Gilbert, Colin Wilson, and Marc Resteghini serve as executive producers. Harriet Creelman is a co-executive producer. Motive Pictures manages the physical production of the show.
