Did you know there are anti-wokeness advocates worldwide? During a press tour for the movie “After the Hunt,” Ayo Edebiri, Andrew Garfield, and Julia Roberts faced leading questions from an Italian journalist. A clip posted by ArtsLife TV shows the reporter asking about Hollywood’s future after the MeToo movement and Black Lives Matter movements have concluded. Julia Roberts appeared confused and asked for clarification, saying “Can you repeat that?” to which she added, “With your sunglasses on, I can’t tell which of us you’re talking to.” The journalist confirmed the question was for Garfield and Roberts rather than Edebiri and addressed Hollywood’s future once MeToo and Black Lives Matter movements are over, suggesting that the politically correct era may have resulted in some losses.

Edebiri spoke up, stating, “I understand it’s not intended for me, and I’m unsure if it’s intentional if it’s not meant for me.” She continued, “I believe the work isn’t complete, not in the slightest. Although hashtags might not be as prevalent, I do believe activists and people continue to perform significant, heartening work daily. That work is far from over because our world is especially volatile right now, and it remains active for a purpose.” Garfield agreed, affirming that “both movements are very much still thriving.
As a cinema enthusiast, I’d put it this way: “While less media coverage may make events seem less prevalent than they were eight or so years ago, I firmly believe that the absence of daily headlines doesn’t signify an end to the work that needs to be done. If someone had asked me, I’d have said exactly that.” However, it’s important to note that she wasn’t actually asked.
