Fully funded simulator Hotel Galactic sees you trying to keep hotel guests happy

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can hardly contain my excitement for Hotel Galactic, the upcoming hotel management simulator that seamlessly combines elements of Studio Ghibli’s enchanting worlds with engaging gameplay mechanics. Being an active member of Cozy Gamers, a community Facebook group dedicated to all things cozy in gaming, I had the privilege of attending a recent live Q&A session with Kalia and the founders of Ancient Forge, Max and Dushan.

A Kickstarter campaign for Hotel Galactic, which concludes on July 30, 2024, has successfully secured funding. This engaging hotel management simulator exudes a charming and cozy atmosphere that Studio Ghibli enthusiasts may find familiar. The developers’ passion for the films is evident in the game’s design.

During a recent live Q&A session with Kalia, the founder of the Facebook community group, Cozy Gamers, the founders of the studio producing Hotel Galactic shared new insights about their upcoming game. They discussed several anticipated features that players can look forward to experiencing once Hotel Galactic is launched.

I, as a gamer, have been following the development of Ancient Forge with great interest. Max and Dushan, the founders, gave an insightful talk during the livestream about their dedication to creating an engaging experience for various types of players. In response to a question from a viewer in the live chat, they shared some details about the interactions between the player and the hotel guests within the game.

The person made a lighthearted inquiry if they could interact with the hotel guests, who appeared charming, by patting them. Kalia took the query a step further and sought Max and Dushan’s opinions on whether tapping the hotel guests would elicit any response.

1. Option A: Delightfully, it will. Dushan explained that viewers could interact with the hotel guests by clicking on them, causing them to stay still and gaze at the camera while waiting for the viewer’s choice regarding their actions. He added that viewers could either let them skip ahead in line if they appeared impatient or offer them a complimentary meal if they seemed to have any problems.

During the live Q&A session, I seized the opportunity to put forward a question and gather more details. When I enquired about the prospect of a demo being made available in the future, Dushan revealed that they intend to exhibit a demo of the game at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show (scheduled for September 26-30, 2024), and also plan to release a “public demo” on Steam for certain Steam Next Fest events.

As an enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the upcoming Steam Next Fests are scheduled! The first one falls on February 24 – March 3, 2025, followed by another from June 9 – 16, 2025. However, Dushan and Max have cautioned us that these dates are tentative at best, and a confirmed public demo date is still to be announced. Keep your fingers crossed!

1. Later on, Max assumed control and announced various possibilities for individuals to interact with the game. However, he only referred to Kickstarter without providing further details. Consequently, it seems that those who didn’t opt for playtest options and non-backers may not experience much of the game until next year.

Hotel Galactic is due to drop in Q4 2026, with an Early Access release planned for Q2 2025.

1. To keep yourself informed, it would be beneficial to join the developers’ Discord community. Should the link become unavailable, you can locate an invitation link on the Steam Store page for Hotel Galactic. Alternatively, you can catch the complete Q&A session on YouTube.
