New trailer for Visions of Mana shows off the first batch of Elemental Vessels

As a longtime Mana series fan with countless hours spent exploring the rich worlds and engaging in battles, I can’t help but be excited about the upcoming release of Visions of Mana. The new Elemental Vessels system showcased in the latest trailer is a fresh and intriguing take on the classic elements theme that has been a staple in this beloved franchise.

In about five weeks, Square Enix will unveil the initial fresh installment in their Mana series named “Visions of Mana.” Recently, Square published a captivating five-minute video to showcase the innovative Elemental Vessels system that is exclusive to this game.

Elements have always played a significant role in the Mana series, shaping many stories within this beloved franchise. In Visions of Mana, elements seem to take on an even greater significance through the use of Elemental Vessels. These are eight unique items, which you’ll encounter throughout your journey, each linked to a distinct element. By discovering these vessels, you’ll unlock new classes for your party members and gain access to traversal abilities that will help navigate the game world.

The Earth Vessel, or Gnome Shovel, enhances your defense in combat by generating a protective stone shield for party members, lessening damage received. For its unique attack, it rains boulders down upon adversaries from above. In open areas, you can manipulate the large clay golems encountered.

The Gnome Shovel unlocks the following classes:

  • Weapon Master for Val
  • Magus for Palamena
  • Ninja Master for Morley
  • Hunter for Julei
  • Warrior Monk for Careena

The Vessel of Light—the Lumina Lantern—can tether various enemies together, sharing the damage that one takes with the other. Alternatively, using its special area attack, the damage will be shared across all enemies. While exploring out in the field, it can create bridges of light.

The Lumina Lantern unlocks the following classes:

  • Paladin for Val
  • Archmage for Palamena
  • Sovereign for Moreley
  • High Cleric for Julei
  • Starlancer for Careena

The Vessel of Darkness, which is also referred to as Shade Sight, has a unique function during battles. It attracts lighter adversaries towards you, while larger enemies may draw you nearer to them instead. As an additional feature, this vessel unleashes a massive black hole as its special attack, dragging all opponents into it and inflicting continuous damage. In terms of mobility, the Vessel of Darkness enables you to move towards distant objects or engage with them.

The Shade Sight unlocks the following classes:

  • Berserker for Val
  • Reaper for Palamena
  • Soothsayer for Moreley
  • Necromancer for Juleei
  • Maverick for Careena

Visions of Mana and its Elemental Vessels are coming to PlayStation 4 and 5 on August 29, 2024.
