Ghost Recon Breakpoint Immersive vs Regular – All Differences

As a dedicated fan of the Ghost Recon series, I’ve been following the developments in Breakpoint with great anticipation. The recent addition of the Immersive mode has truly resonated with me, as it harks back to the roots of the franchise – a tactical shooter experience that immerses you in a realistic military environment.

Approximately three months following Ghost Recon Breakpoint‘s launch, its creators introduced a new “Immersive setting” for enhanced realism and tactical gameplay, aligning with the series’ roots as a renowned shooter franchise. In this article, we’ll explore how this mode differs from the standard gaming experience within the title.

How to change between Immersive and Regular modes

In the main menu of the game, look for the “Ghost Experience Settings” tab located at the top left corner (as shown in the first image). Once you’ve selected it, you’ll be taken to a page where you can choose between Regular and Immersive modes for your ghost encounters, which are located at the bottom (refer to the second image). Additionally, feel free to customize your own experience by adjusting the settings according to your preferences.

Immersive vs Regular mode differences in Ghost Recon Breakpoint

As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that one thing that truly sets Ghost Recon Breakpoint apart is its flexibility during gameplay. Unlike some games that restrict you to a single mode for the entire session, this tactical shooter allows you to switch seamlessly between Immersive and Regular modes at your leisure.

Gear Level

In the Immersive experience, the need to track gear scores is eliminated entirely. Instead, each distinct weapon comes with its own unique traits and can be personalized for your use throughout the game. Weapons in Normal mode, however, carry a designated level: weapons of higher levels yield greater power.

If you’re currently wielding a gun, there’s an identical firearm with greater power waiting for you later in the game when the gear level is activated. Nevertheless, the behavior of a gun remains consistent throughout the game while in Immersive mode; instead, you can enhance it by adding components to amplify its strength.

Looting

In Regular and Immersive modes, obtaining blueprints for new weapons is common practice. In Regular mode, players can find weapons in chests, purchase them from merchants, or obtain them from defeated foes. They are able to accumulate a variety of weapons and items in their loadout, which they can switch at any time. Conversely, Immersive mode limits the number of weapons and equipment a player can carry, allowing them to only swap out weapons taken from fallen enemies. Players can opt to bring one or two primary weapons into battle.

Ammo loss on reload

In Ghost Recon Breakpoint, when you reload your weapon in the game’s immersive mode, any unused bullets from the magazine are discarded. This enhances the realistic feel intended by the developers, as players must carefully manage their ammo supply (no need for a separate modification to perform this fundamental function). You can adjust this feature independently in the Tactical Difficulty settings.

Survival

In Immersive mode, survival takes on greater complexity as you can customize the challenge level for your operator by tweaking the Tactical Difficulty settings.

  • Stamina Level: Adjust how much stamina you consume from None, Reduced, Regular, or Extreme.
  • Health Regeneration: Limit your health regen speed by selecting from Arcade, Original, Partial, or None.
  • Bandage Quantity: Select the number of bandages you carry from 3, 5, 12, or Unlimited.
  • Risk of Injury: You can choose to get the wounded effect when hit by enemy bullets (select from None, Rare, Often, and Always options).

In Immersive mode, the enemy difficulty is comparable to the normal setting in regular play. Yet, you have the freedom to choose between easy, normal, advanced, and extreme levels for a tailored gaming experience.

HUD

In Immersive mode, the Interface is set to Minimal, disabling the minimap, loot markers, and NPC markers for a more immersive experience. Conversely, in Regular mode, the Interface is set to Full, allowing all of these features to be used (as shown in the image above).

In the Immersive gameplay, you’ll exclusively interact with story characters and your teammates at the campsite. However, in the Regular mode, you’ll encounter random players as well.
