Kaku Kento Joins Takeuchi Ryoma to Unveil ‘Like a Dragon: Yakuza’ Trailer at Comic-Con

As a passionate movie buff with a deep appreciation for international cinema, I am thrilled to share my excitement about the upcoming “Like a Dragon: Yakuza” series on Amazon Prime Video, starring Japanese acting sensation Kaku Kento and Takeuchi Ryoma. Having followed Kaku’s career since his breakout role in “House of Ninja,” I can’t wait to see him bring Akira Nishikiyama (Nishiki) to life on the small screen.

Japanese acting sensation Kento Kaku has been announced as the main cast member in “Like a Dragon: Yakuza,” the live-action version of the popular Sega video game produced by Amazon MGM Studios. At the San Diego Comic-Con, Kaku teamed up with his co-star Ryoma Takeuchi to unveil a sneak peek of the upcoming series’ teaser trailer.

Take Masaharu and Takimoto Kengo, the talented duo behind “100 Yen Love” and “Kamen Teacher” respectively, are at the helm of this six-episode crime-suspense-action series. The engaging script and intriguing plot are the work of Sean Crouch and Yugo Nakamura, while Yoshida Yasuhiro and Yamada Kana have crafted a compelling Japanese screenplay for the production.

In various regions and stages of its existence, the “Yakuza” or “Like a Dragon” series is set in the fictional Kamurochō entertainment district. This district was inspired by Kabukichō, the notorious red-light district in Tokyo’s Shinjuku area.

The “Like a Dragon: Yakuza” series tells tales of tough yet compassionate gang members in Kamurochō, portrayed through the lens of two different time periods – 1995 and 2005. It focuses on the journey of an unyielding and exceptional Yakuza warrior, whose life intertwines with that of his childhood friends, as well as the consequences of their choices.

In the series, Kaku takes on the role of Akira Nishikiyama, also known as Nishiki. He is linked closely to the character of Takeuchi, who boasts numerous credits within the “Kamen Rider” franchise.

During the Comic-Con event, the two actors unveiled the authentic preview clip. They then engaged in a conversation with James Farrell, the international originals head at Amazon MGM Studios, and Erik Barmack, the show’s executive producer, about their distinct creative responsibilities.

The first three episodes of “Like a Dragon: Yakuza” will debut on Prime Video from Oct. 24.
