The Dark Pictures Anthology Curator Tony Pankhurst Has Died

As a huge fan of The Dark Pictures Anthology and a follower of Supermassive Games, I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Tony Pankhurst at the age of 67. His role as The Curator in the game series brought an extra layer of intrigue and mystery to each installment. Although his voice and motion-capture were not the only elements of The Curator, seeing his likeness in the live-action trailer for House of Ashes made a significant impact on me as a player.

Sadly, Tony Pankhurst, who famously portrayed the Curator character in The Dark Pictures Anthology by Supermassive Games, has passed away at the age of 67.

On Twitter, Supermassive Games expressed their sadness over the death of Tony Pankhurst, who was known as The Curator for the company. They cherished their collaborations with him. According to his family’s tribute page, Tony passed away on May 9. He had a deep passion for Brighton & Hove Albion FC. The family welcomes donations in his memory to “Hospice in the Weald.” Supermassive Games has already made a donation of £200.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tony Pankhurst, a cherished figure and the beloved representative of The Curator. We deeply appreciated the opportunity to collaborate with him. ❤️

In The Dark Pictures Anthology series, The Curator serves as the all-knowing storyteller in each game, addressing players and responding to their decisions made during gameplay. Although Pankhurst’s image was employed for The Curator, the character’s voice and motion capture were provided by actor Pip Torrens. In the live-action trailer for House of Ashes, Pankhurst depicts The Curator instead.

Supermassive Games has created and Bandai Namco has released a horror-adventure game series called The Dark Pictures Anthology, which currently includes four instalments. These form the first season of the franchise. The upcoming title in the second season is Directive 8020, unveiled in 2022, but no launch date has been disclosed as of now.
