As a movie buff with a deep appreciation for true stories and underdog narratives, I’m thrilled to hear that Blue Fox Entertainment has acquired the distribution rights for “Lost on a Mountain In Maine.” The film’s inspiration from real-life events, and Sylvester Stallone’s involvement as a producer, immediately piques my interest.
As a film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be able to witness “Lost on a Mountain In Maine” on the big screen starting November 1st. This true-to-life feature film, which has recently been acquired by Blue Fox Entertainment for distribution, promises an unforgettable cinematic experience.
The movie, produced by Sylvester Stallone’s Balboa Productions, recounts the authentic tale of 12-year-old Donn Fendler who gets lost from his family during a storm on a perilous mountain peak.
I’ve read many survival stories, but Donn’s tale of endurance in the harsh wilderness of northern Maine is one that truly leaves me in awe. For nine long days, he battled against the elements with no food, improper clothing, and an uncertain grasp of his dire circumstances. The unforgiving landscape seemed determined to claim him, but Donn’s will to live pushed him forward.
At the Maine International Film Festival, the Waterville Opera House played host to a fully booked screening of a new film called “The King of Staten Island.” Luke David Blumm (“The King of Staten Island”), Paul Sparks (“House of Cards” on Netflix), Caitlin FitzGerald from “Masters of Sex” on Showtime, and Ethan Slater known for his role in “Wicked,” graced the production with their presence. The film is backed by Sylvester Stallone’s production company.
Andrew Kightlinger, also known as “Tater Tot” and “Patton,” takes the helm as director in this film, with a script penned by Luke Paradise based on Fendler’s 1978 memoir of the same title, detailing his personal childhood accounts.
Stallone is the producer, while Braden Aftergood, Dick Boyce, Ryan Cook, Heather Grehan, Derek Desmond, Stephanie Blackwood, and Mario Nicosia are all involved as executive producers.
“Boodhoo Kightlinger made this statement: ‘This movie is a rare find in American cinema today – a deeply emotional saga led by an exceptional 12-year-old actor. We filmed it in the raw, untouched wilderness, wading through rivers and climbing mountains. Every day on set, we rallied behind Stallone’s underdog spirit. Blue Fox is bringing this story to theaters, offering viewers a fresh and authentic take on themes of hope, perseverance, and family, with a contemporary twist.'”
At the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in late 2023, “Sly,” a new documentary from Balboa Productions, made its debut as the closing night film, prior to being released on Netflix in November. Previously, Balboa produced “Samaritan,” a superhero movie featuring Sylvester Stallone that premiered on Amazon Prime. Another project from their team is “Tulsa King,” a TV series which started streaming on Paramount+ in November 2022 and is currently finishing up production for its second season.
I’ve recently had the pleasure of checking out some new movies from Blue Fox Entertainment that hit the U.S. screens. One of them is “Empire Waist,” a youthful, heartfelt dramedy that I found quite enjoyable. Another one is “The Greatest Surf Movie in the Universe,” an animated comedy packed with humor and surfing action, featuring Luke Hemsworth in the cast. Lastly, there’s “Take My Hand,” a captivating film starring Radha Mitchell that I would definitely recommend.
