Kamala Harris Appears on ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars’ to Advocate for Voting: ‘Make Sure Your Voice Is Heard’

As a dedicated cinephile and avid follower of pop culture, I couldn’t be more thrilled to see Vice President Kamala Harris making an appearance on the season nine finale of “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars.” Her advocacy for voting rights is not only a testament to her commitment to human and civil rights but also aligns perfectly with the message that “Drag Race” has been consistently promoting throughout its seasons.

Kamala Harris is set to make an appearance on the final episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars season nine, promoting the importance of voting.

As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of unease as I witness the ongoing attacks on our rights and freedoms. Each day brings new challenges, but we cannot let fear or despair hold us back. This Friday, I’ll be tuning in to Paramount+ for the latest episode, where I’m excited to see the vice president make a special appearance. Her words resonate with me, reminding me that no one is alone in this fight. We are all in this together, and our collective voice is our greatest power.

A few weeks prior to Harris declaring her candidacy for the presidency, she appeared on a show with judge Michelle Visage, Emmy-nominated choreographer Jamal Sims, Lance Bass, Leslie Jones, and Cheyenne Jackson. During this appearance, she urged Americans to register to vote.

For several years, Harris has strongly supported human rights and civil liberties, including marriage equality. Recently, she held a Pride month celebration in collaboration with the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. Notable attendees included Nymhpia Wind from “Drag Race” season 16, Vanessa Vanjie Mateo and Plastique Tiara from “All Stars,” as well as Billy Porter. The Human Rights Campaign voiced their endorsement of Harris’ presidential campaign on Wednesday. They acknowledged her advocacy for the Equality Act, which aims to provide extensive anti-discrimination protections for the LGBTQ+ community, and the Respect for Marriage Act, which safeguards federal marriage rights.

Politicians have made guest appearances on this show before. For instance, in the year 2020, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sat as a judge, while Speaker Nancy Pelosi featured in the “All Stars” season 7 in 2022 and motivated the audience to exercise their right to vote.

The popular show “Drag Race” has been promoting voter registration for a long time. At the end of each episode, the queens and the host, RuPaul, encourage viewers to sign up to vote.

The second part of the final event is anticipated to be an “extravagant showcase” by EbMaster, with all eight queens making a comeback. The triumphant queen stands to receive a reward of $200,000, which will be given to her preferred charity. Additionally, there are three “Benefactress” awards to be claimed. A fresh voting mechanism could introduce an unexpected turn of events.

Last week during RuPaul’s challenge, the queens were informed that the three queens with the most badges would be competing for the chance to wear the crown. However, RuPaul emphasized that any queen could still take the crown and become a part of the Drag Race Hall of Fame. As of the first part of the grand finale, Roxxxy Andrews held five Benefactress badges, while Jorgeous and Plastique Tiara were even with four. Jorgeous had an advantage due to her lip-sync tie and maxi challenge win.
