Stalker 2: Heart Of Chornobyl Delayed To November

As a long-time fan of the Stalker series, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and disappointment with the latest delay of Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl. The game has been a highly anticipated title in the gaming community for years, and the thought of finally exploring the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone once again was truly exhilarating.

GSC Game World, the creators of Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, have announced that the game’s release has been pushed back from September 5 to November 20 for both PC and Xbox Series X|S.

“Game director Yevhen Grygorovych acknowledges your frustration with the delay and thanks you for your patience,” he said in a statement. “The extra two months will enable us to address more unexpected issues and improve the game further. Your continued backing is greatly valued by us. We share your excitement to launch the game and can’t wait for you to enjoy it.”

Stalker 2 faced multiple setbacks from its initial unveiling, with some of these hurdles being attributed to the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Consequently, the Ukrainian development team had to move their operations to Prague, Czech Republic. Tragically, a member of the team, Volodymyr Yezhov, lost his life while defending Ukraine. Additionally, the studio’s new offices in Prague endured a fire towards the end of 2023; luckily, no one was injured during the incident.

GSC Game World has announced that they will provide an in-depth exploration of their game during a new developer diary video, scheduled for release on August 12. In this preview, viewers can look forward to exclusive content, interviews with the team, and insights into the game’s creation process. Additionally, fans can anticipate seeing new footage showcasing the game world, various settings, and a step-by-step guide through one of the storylines.

If you haven’t seen it yet, Stalker 2 gameplay was demonstrated during the June Xbox Games Showcase. The trailer revealed some of the gameplay features and introduced you to the eerie creatures that will cross your path as you explore the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone.
