„I Don't Know Anybody Who Went to See It.” Sean Connery Believes That Far Too Little Attention Has Neen Paid to This Movie

As a huge fan of Sean Connery‘s illustrious acting career, I can’t help but feel disappointed that one of his lesser-known films, “Family Business,” hasn’t received the recognition it deserves. During an interview with renowned film critic Roger Ebert, Sir Sean himself expressed his bafflement over the movie’s lack of appeal to audiences.

Occasionally, actors believe certain productions have great promise, but unfortunately, audiences don’t seem to feel the same way. In such cases, these movies may go overlooked. On the other hand, the cause could be inadequate marketing efforts for the show, leading audiences to remain oblivious and not watch it.

Sean Connery is known for having starred in one film that is often overlooked by audiences. In an interview with Roger Ebert, Connery expressed his surprise and disappointment over the fact that “Family Business” didn’t resonate with more people and wasn’t widely watched.

In my opinion, the film “Family Business” that I was a part of seems to have been overlooked by many. I can’t fathom why this movie didn’t pique anyone’s interest. I don’t recall anyone expressing an intent to watch it. Despite its flaws, I found appeal in the concept. The role I played was that of Dustin Hoffman’s father and Matthew Broderick’s grandfather. In the story, my character dies in a hospital, but unfortunately, I couldn’t prevent this outcome. I had a solution to the predicament – he should attend his own funeral, revealing he wasn’t dead after all because he had exchanged vehicles. However, even with this intriguing twist, the film didn’t generate any curiosity.

The lackluster ratings from both critics and audiences on platforms like Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb didn’t do the production any favors. For instance, only 35% of Rotten Tomatoes reviews were positive, while just 28% of viewers shared the same sentiment. Additionally, the IMDb rating for “Family Business” stood at a modest 5.7 out of 10. These numbers didn’t exactly inspire confidence in potential viewers and likely contributed to its limited reach.

In an engaging retelling, the film follows the journey of Adam, who receives an enticing proposition of one million dollars from a past mentor to acquire a specific object from a tech firm’s lab. Seeking assistance, he turns to his criminal grandfather. The question then arises: can they persuade Adam’s upright father to become involved?

Although the plot of “Family Business” with Sean Connery sounds engaging, various elements failed to deliver, resulting in this film being overlooked by many.
