Concord Has No Battle Pass -- "You Own Concord, Concord Doesn't Own You"

As a long-time gamer with countless hours clocked into various online shooters, I can’t help but be intrigued by Firewalk Studio’s upcoming game, Concord. Having worked on one of the most popular battle pass-driven games, Call of Duty: Warzone, at Raven Software, Mark DeRidder, the gameplay animation director at Firewalk, has made a bold decision that resonates with me – no battle pass in Concord.

After wrapping up the beta testing phase, Firewalk Studios is unveiling the features that players can look forward to upon the launch of Concord, as well as what lies ahead post-release. Notably absent will be a staple feature found in numerous online shooters: a battle pass system.

Mark DeRidder, Firewalk’s gameplay animation director, expressed his viewpoint on X by stating, “You have control over Concord rather than Concord controlling you.” Previously, DeRidder contributed to the development team of Call of Duty: Warzone at Raven Software, as mentioned on LinkedIn.

No Battle Pass, folks. You own Concord, Concord doesn’t own you.

As an excited fan, I can tell you that Firewalk Studios has announced some awesome surprises in store for us after the launch of Concord on August 23. These surprises include new Freegunners, maps, modes, and more! And here’s the best part: these updates will come at no extra cost to us. Concord is not a free-to-play game, though; it retails for $40.

At a PlayStation State of Play event in May, Concord was initially introduced to the public. This team-based online shooter game appears to combine aspects of Overwatch and Valorant, while also evoking feelings reminiscent of the Guardians of the Galaxy films. Concord went through early access and open beta testing during this month, which concluded on July 21.
