How to Watch the Divas Open the 2024 Olympics

As a devoted cinema enthusiast with a deep appreciation for music and the arts, I am thrilled to my core that this year’s Olympics Opening Ceremony is shaping up to be an exceptional event. The decision to stage it along the River Seine in Paris is a bold and innovative move, adding an air of elegance and allure to the proceedings.

As a seasoned sports enthusiast who has attended several major international events, I’m thrilled to share my excitement about this year’s Olympics in Paris. The 2024 Olympics, which officially commence this week, are set to be a unique spectacle unlike any other.

What is Lady Gaga doing in Paris?

I recently came across some intriguing news while wandering the streets of Paris on July 22. To my surprise, none other than Lady Gaga was seen leaving a hotel and cruising around town. Now, it’s possible that she’s simply enjoying a well-deserved break – but considering her upcoming role in “Joker: Folie à Deux” at the Venice Film Festival this summer and rumors of a new album on the horizon, it seems unlikely that she’s just passing through. In fact, with all the buzz surrounding her projects, it wouldn’t be shocking if Lady Gaga graced us with a performance during the Opening Ceremony. Some even suggest that she might pay tribute to Edith Piaf by singing “La Vie en Rose,” a number she previously performed during her Las Vegas residency and in “A Star Is Born.” As of now, Ally hasn’t been spotted in Paris.

Could Céline Dion make a comeback at the Olympics?

Céline Dion could join Lady Gaga as a performer at the Opening Ceremony, according to rumors. Variety reported that Dion arrived in Paris on July 22th. If she performs, it would be a significant return for her after revealing her stiff-person syndrome diagnosis which put her career in jeopardy. In her documentary “I Am: Celine Dion,” she expressed her desire to sing again and see the Eiffel Tower, possibly hinting at an Olympics performance. Hoda Kotb, who interviewed Dion earlier this year, mentioned that a comeback was suggested by both Dion and her manager. Performing at the Olympics would be a full-circle moment for Dion as she previously sang during the Opening Ceremony of the 1996 Games in Atlanta.

What other stars are involved?

After Ariana Grande’s sighting in Paris on July 23, the diva appearances keep coming. Joining Snoop Dogg on July 26 as torchbearers are French rapper MC Solaar, retired Ukrainian pole vaulter Sergey Bubka, and others, bringing the total to 11,000. Salma Hayek, BTS’s Jin, Thierry Henry, Mentissa, and ordinary French people are also part of this esteemed team. LeBron James will carry the US flag during the opening parade, with the female flag bearer still undisclosed. Regrettably, Pita Taufatofua from Tonga, known for his oiled-up appearances, did not make it to the Games this year.

How do I watch?

As a movie buff in the U.S., I’m thrilled to share that the Opening Ceremony and the entire Games will be aired on NBC and Peacock. The ceremony kicks off at 1:30 p.m. ET, but NBC’s coverage starts an hour earlier at noon. No need to worry if you’re caught up at work during the show; there’s a re-run scheduled for 7:30 p.m. that very same evening.
