Hades 2 Dissolution Of Time Guide – How To Get Entropy And Beat The Game

Hades 2 version 1.0 is now available, but figuring out how to actually *finish* the game isn’t straightforward. Whether you’re a new player or continuing from the Early Access version, it’s not easy to find a clear path to the ending and the credits.

Hades 2 has a lot of different systems to learn, from completing story runs to gathering materials for powerful upgrades. If you’re stuck on completing the Dissolution of Time and Disintegration of Monstrosity incantations, or figuring out how to get Entropy, you’ll find all the information you need below.

How Many Runs Do You Need to Do to Finish Hades 2?

Okay, so I’ve been playing Hades 2 a lot, and one of the biggest questions I keep seeing – especially from those of us who were hooked during Early Access – is: how many runs does it actually take to beat the game? It’s what everyone wants to know!

You’ll likely need to complete around 12 runs in total. These are split between about seven runs in the underworld – known as Chronos runs – and roughly five on the surface, called Typhon runs. There’s no set order, but I suggest starting with the Chronos runs. They’re quicker to finish, and you’ll quickly realize when you need to switch over and focus on the Typhon runs.

I’ve been following this game since its Early Access release, and here’s what I experienced: Once you finish a Chronos run, you’ll unlock the Dissolution of Time incantation. I then completed four more Chronos runs (I’ll explain why later), but after that, I got stuck. The characters in the story make it pretty clear when you’ve reached the limit, so you won’t miss it. Basically, just complete five Chronos runs, then move on to doing Typhon runs.

What is the Unknown Item of Dissolution of Time?

Once you’ve finished at least one full run in Hades 2 (version 1.0), you’ll unlock the Dissolution of Time incantation. To get it, you’ll need five Z-Sand – which you earn by defeating Chronos – and another, currently unnamed material.

The mysterious substance is called Entropy. Don’t be concerned if it appears as ‘unknown’ during your attempts – it will become clear once you unlock the second incantation, Disintegration of Monstrosity. These incantations are connected to the beings Chronos and Typhon, respectively.

These tasks connect to each other, but if you complete five rounds of Chronos followed by four rounds of Typhon to gather the necessary items, you should be able to advance smoothly. Don’t forget to talk to Hecate and other important characters at the Crossroads – they’ll help you continue the story.

How to Get Entropy to Complete the Dissolution of Time Incantation

As we’ve already discussed, Dissolution of Time and Disintegration of Monstrosity are connected. You’ll need to make progress in one to advance in the other and ultimately achieve Entropy and finish the first incantation. We’ll assume you understand the basics now, so we can freely discuss details that might spoil things.

To unlock Entropy in Hades 2, you first need to finish the ‘Disintegration of Monstrosity’ questline. Beating Typhon will reward you with the necessary item to then defeat Chronos and progress further.

If you want a breakdown of how the endgame of Hades 2 works, here are the steps in full:

  • Complete five Chronos runs, up to the point where Zagreus and Melinoë talk about the weapon needed to defeat Chronos. During this time, make sure to always speak to Hecate at the Crossroads when available.
  • Once you have access to Disintegration of Monstrosity, you’ll need one Z-Sand from defeating Chronos, four V-Lens from defeating Typhon, and Gigaros, which is obtained by progressing through Dissolution of Time until Zagreus leaves the weapon next to the bed.
  • After you complete the incantation, you’ll have to do one more Typhon run. Toward the second half of the fight, Melinoë will interrupt the encounter and use Gigaros to kill him. Alongside the usual V-Lens, you’ll also gain Entropy.
  • Once you’re back at the Crossroads, complete the Dissolution of Time incantation. Then, proceed to do one more Chronos run to finish the main story.
  • Hades 2 is a roguelite–in a similar fashion to the first game, you can continue playing after the credits. As such, feel free to go ahead with the final Chronos run before getting to the epilogue.
