The Bachelorette Recap: Let Me Tick, Bro

As a seasoned reality TV critic with a penchant for all things Bachelor Nation, I’ve seen it all – from cringe-worthy group dates to tear-jerking breakups. But this week’s episode of The Real Mansion Men left me utterly bewildered and amused, much like the contestants themselves.

I understand your disappointment, I share your feelings that it should be Ali instead of me, Olivia. I admit I haven’t written a recap in a while, since before Jen Shah was sent to prison. However, I promise to put in my best effort and provide an engaging and possibly even more enjoyable experience for you than watching the same movie repeated multiple times by a substitute teacher.

The episode starts with the group leaving the new mansion early as the “Claim to Fame” production team is ready to begin their day. It’s also wise to avoid lingering near the remnants of Scheana Marie and Mike Shay’s troubled marriage. After working for over 24 hours filming the premiere, the logical next move is to embark on a 16-hour flight to Melbourne and disrupt our body clocks beyond recognition. As Jenn puts it, “We enjoy testing our limits. Isn’t that fun?”

In Australia, I began our journey with a group date where eight of us guys went to Queen Victoria Market. There, we were to “shop, eat, drink, and enjoy ourselves.” I’m guessing this is the thrilling experience everyone keeps talking about, but I can’t help but think you could do all that at your local mall? The guys became irritated as Devin raced ahead of us and carried Jenn off her feet. This, my friends, is an early hint of what’s to come.

Approximately forty percent of Jenn’s identity revolves around “shots” and drinking whiskey with unconventional ingredients like kangaroo testicles. They explore a vast array of foods, primarily centered around dairy. Sam N. sheds tears at every food tour stop due to feeling left behind in a yet-to-begin lactose-processing competition. Devin leads Jenn down an alley and steals a moment by sneakily enjoying gelato from an unsuspecting stand. Jenn cherishes this surprise experience, unfortunately, Pete Davidson’s unauthorized counterpart makes strides towards becoming the most prominent figure in their group.

The guys encounter an extraordinary comedian in a red suit, who grants them just ten minutes to come up with some jokes since Jenn seeks a companion who not only functions as her best friend but also shares her sense of humor. Is this the essence of “ferocious love” you ask? I’m skeptical that this phrase doesn’t mask a promotional ploy for a Colleen Hoover novel. In any case, these guys are painfully unfunny and it’s only Grant who grasps the concept of a punchline.

Jenn aims to make the cocktail party more centered on shared passions, such as her own personal transformation alongside Jonathan’s. Grant’s declaration of wanting a family leaves Jenn feeling strongly attracted to him. However, she is determined not to lose her online identity, so she proposes that he adopts hers instead if they are to get married. They share a passionate kiss, Grant receives the group date rose, and Jenn manages to survive another day without having to alter her Instagram handle.

On “The Real Mansion Men,” I’ve observed the producers urging Aaron and Wilma Flintstone’s choker to tackle Devin about their concerns. These reservations, which have been holding Jenn back, are a waste of her time and energy, not beneficial for her, and even tied to his being a man. Devin, however, parries with quick wit and seemingly unrefutable comebacks such as “That’s just how you see it” and “I’m not passing judgment on you.” I can’t help but wonder if this gentleman has spent countless hours engrossed in Bravo shows with his mother.

Aaron and Devin spend the remainder of the evening debating intensely, reminiscent of “Challengers,” however, lacking the intriguing homoerotic undertones and a significantly poorer outcome. Jenn voices her disapproval of their squabbles but shockingly shares a kiss with Devin. I find this endearing from her character. If Jenn continues to call out these bickering men on their antics, we are set for an entertaining and steamy season reminiscent of Hannah Brown or Katie Thurston’s tenures. Let us all hope that these gentlemen recognize the valuable opportunity they have been given and allow Jenn to stay strong in her role.

After that, Marcus enjoys a private date with Jenn. Their activity of choice: skydiving, a long-desired experience for Jenn who decides to conquer her fear once and for all. With multiple parachute jumps under his belt as an Army ranger, this adventure is just another day at the office for Marcus. They leap, Jenn conquers her apprehension, and upon touching down, she surprises him with a passionate kiss. Thrilled beyond belief, Jenn is elated that Marcus supported her, much like how I support someone by sending an email. The bar, it seems, has been set quite low.

As I take off my pilot’s jacket and hang up my aviator hat after a long flight, my date Jenn and I make our way to a cozy local library. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, but as we settle in at a table, Marcus receives an unexpected request. He must share a piece of himself, reveal some depth beyond the brave soldier persona.

As someone who has always been deeply connected to animals, I can relate to the idea that many people claim to be animal lovers just to seem more endearing or unique. However, having fostered kittens myself, I can assure you that there’s a distinct difference between those who truly care for animals and those who merely pay lip service to the cause.

As a seasoned photographer with years of experience capturing the raw beauty of nature and its inhabitants, I must admit that I was taken aback by the scene unfolding before me at the Australian wildlife sanctuary. The bros, clad in leather vests and looking every inch the rugged adventurers, posed confidently next to Jenn and an array of animal models, all under the expert eye of renowned photographer Nigel Barker.

An oversized serpent is produced, and Dylan bravely offers to drape it around his neck as if it’s a stylish scarf, buying him additional moments with Jenn. For years, his father has played the same song whenever his mother enters the vehicle. This scenario seems frightening to me, but Jenn rewards him with a rose for making an appearance at her event. (She holds the power to take it back upon receiving his upcoming MCAT results.)

If it wasn’t clear, the main idea of this episode is “being present.” It’s simple to receive a rose just by “showing up.” However, it’s perplexing since what else can these gentlemen do besides long for a beautiful woman during their dedicated time without any external influences?

The Safari Boys, excluding Dylan, returned and announced to the team that those who didn’t wear leather the previous day would lose their turn at the upcoming cocktail party. They justified it as a matter of fairness and camaraderie.

In simpler terms, this household strongly supports unions. We value transparency in production, fair wages, access to mental health resources, and protection against retaliation. However, these brothers are attempting to regain traditional power dynamics through controlling women’s time on a show that centers around competition. Unfortunately for them, they must navigate this challenge independently.

In the meantime, Aaron and Devin continue to argue. Aaron accidentally calls Devin the wrong name and then hands him a book that supposedly contributed to his personal growth. It’s hard to believe these men (1) haven’t read a book since middle school or (2) have only read “The Alchemist.” Sorry, not convinced by your story.

At the cocktail party, the Safari Boys union became agitated when when unexpectedly, Devin and his perspiring Niagara Falls forehead drew Jenn away from the group. Thomas N. of the Safari Boys stormed off to confront Devin in a secluded area, leaving Jenn feeling isolated in her sequins and fur. Upon returning, Thomas preoccupied himself with reading from his Devin Criticism Notebook rather than engaging in pleasant conversation or discussing his passion for family and exploration. Perceptive Jenn scolded Thomas for restricting her freedom and abandoning her, allowing Devin to defend himself against accusations of objectifying Jenn.

Devin is quite skilled at what he does. His actions and behavior can be compared to Bethenny Frankel’s strength and charisma, Nick Viall’s dramatic flair, and DJ James Kennedy’s rising popularity. It’s as if we’re watching Joey Essex, a well-known reality TV personality, join the cast of “Love Island” – he seems to be putting in great effort for a small compensation. If Devin doesn’t progress much with Jenn, I predict that he will continue to be part of the reality TV scene until the end of his days.

Sadly, Jenn hasn’t lost her sexual desire (yes, I agree). While Devin and Thomas N. step outside to discuss the intricacies of the Safari Boys’ labor contract, Jenn passionately kisses Sam M., Jonathon, and Spencer. The shared trait among the kissing partners is their attractiveness and ability to exchange playful banter for a brief moment. Pay attention, gentlemen!

Next, the rose ceremony ensues. Unfortunately, Brian, Marvin, and Jahaan are eliminated from the competition. The “Real Mansion Men” survive for another round.

In the future, the boys will apply oil for exceptional performances, similar to Magic Mike, and Ali will be back, bringing an exciting experience for all of you. I’m glad I could join you today!
