Fox’s ‘Fantastic Four’ Stars Jamie Bell and Kate Mara ‘Excited’ About MCU Reboot: ‘It’s a Great Cast’

As a huge fan of Jamie Bell and Kate Mara, I’m thrilled to hear that they’re looking forward to the upcoming reboot of “Fantastic Four,” despite their less-than-stellar experiences with the previous adaptation. Their excitement is palpable, especially given the impressive cast Marvel has assembled for this new installment.

Jamie Bell and Kate Mara have been open about their dislike for their previous “Fantastic Four” film, but they’re excited for the upcoming remake.

“Mara, who portrayed Sue Storm/Invisible Woman alongside Bell as Ben Grimm/The Thing in the 2015 Fox version of the comic book, shared her enthusiasm with me during Giorgio Armani’s Mare pop-up event at Soho House’s Little Malibu Beach House on Tuesday. She expressed her excitement about the impressive cast.”

In their debut film under the Marvel brand, Pedro Pascal portrays Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby assumes the role of Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn takes on Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach plays Ben Grimm/Thing. The ensemble additionally includes Ralph Ineson, Paul Walter Hauser, Natasha Lyonne, and Julia Garner.

Bell playfully remarked that it wouldn’t be accurate to label the upcoming project as a remake of their movie. “It doesn’t really feel like a remake to me,” he said, “because for something to be rebooted, it needs to have an original existence first. Sadly, our film doesn’t fit into any established narrative.”

He went on to say, “There is a version of it in a less than ideal text.”

The 2015 film, featuring Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan as stars and helmed by Josh Trank, generated great anticipation and hype upon its release. However, it failed to impress critics and underperformed financially.

Mara and Bell were asked if they might make an appearance in the next version. They both chuckled and denied the possibility. “Perhaps we could attempt to come in through a portal between universes,” Bell suggested with a grin. “But once they spot us, they’ll slam the door shut.”

In the upcoming production, helmed by Matt Shakman, the story unfolds in 1960s New York City. The filming is scheduled to start towards the end of this year, with a planned premiere on July 25, 2025.

At the same time, Bell expressed his continued desire to bring “Fred & Ginger,” a film initially announced in late 2020, to life. In this project, Bell and Margaret Qualley will portray the famous duo, delving into their on-screen and off-camera experiences.

“Bell commented, ‘We have excellent team members in strategic positions.’ It’s all about identifying opportunities and arranging schedules accordingly,” Bell added.

I’m not too worried about mastering tap dancing since I learned the basics in dance school. However, I admit that the ballroom sequences will pose a challenge for me as they require precise movements that I wasn’t taught during my dance training.

According to Bell, Astaire’s obsession was achieving “perfection” in his craft. He mused, “What makes his story captivating? It’s all about the relentless pursuit of something flawless. And let me tell you, it’s not an easy feat! It’s not just about him; he had to dance with a partner. How intricate is that? People would often ask him, ‘Who was your preferred dance partner?’ His collaboration with Ginger was undeniably the most fruitful, but isn’t that complicated?”

Max Minghella, a producer on “Fred & Ginger,” shared his excitement about the project during the Armani party, expressing, “We can’t wait to bring this project to life. I believe we will.”

In 2021, another film was revealed featuring Astaire’s sibling relationship with Adele, with Tom Holland set to portray the lead role.
