The series has been a staple in my gaming library since I first played The Girl Who Stands Behind and The Missing Heir on my original Famicom Disk System back in the ’90s. These games left a lasting impression on me with their intricate storylines, atmospheric graphics, and chilling sound design.
After a 30-year absence, Famicom Detective Club is back with a new installment called Emio – The Smiling Man. This marks the first addition to the series since The Missing Heir and The Girl Who Stands Behind were released for the Famicom Disk System. With its release date set for August 29, fans of chilling adventure games can now pre-order this latest entry in the long-dormant franchise and experience another heart-pounding mystery.

We haven’t learned much about Emio – The Smiling Man yet, as Nintendo has only revealed a few minutes worth of content through recent trailers. In this visual novel, players will assume the role of a detective, working to solve the murder of a student rumored to have been killed by Emio. Additionally, Ayumi Tachibana from The Missing Heir is expected to be a playable character in certain parts of the game.

This digital bundle comes with the refurbished editions of both games, which underwent significant enhancements specifically for Nintendo Switch in 2021.
