All3Media’s BBC-Amazon Hit Series ‘Boat Story’ Set for Indian Adaptation by Locomotive Global (EXCLUSIVE)

As a huge fan of international television, I am absolutely thrilled to hear that “Boat Story,” the gripping thriller from BBC One and Amazon Freevee, is coming to India! The prospect of seeing this captivating story unfold with Indian characters and local flavor is incredibly exciting.

The international thriller “Boat Story” produced by All3Media International, which was initially commissioned by BBC One and Amazon Freevee, is being adapted for the Indian audience. Mumbai-based Locomotive Global Media has obtained the exclusive rights to create an Indian version of the series.

A 6×60-minute thriller written by Harry and Jack Williams, premiered in 2023. This production came from Two Brothers Pictures in collaboration with All3Media International. Mayank Sharma, recognized for his work on “Breathe” for Amazon Prime Video India, will oversee the Indian adaptation as both showrunner and director. Locomotive Global Media is responsible for production.

In “Boat Story,” two financially struggling individuals stumble upon an abandoned boat with an unexpected find – a hidden cache of cocaine. Their scheme to sell it and share the earnings sets off a chain of events, drawing them into a complex world of crime. This involves dealing with law enforcement officials, anonymous assassins hiding in masks, and a suave criminal mastermind referred to as ‘The Tailor.’

Locomotive Global Media is deepening its commitment to presenting global shows to Indian audiences with this latest acquisition. Following their successful adaptation of “Ray Donovan” for Netflix India, details about where “The Boat Story” will be aired have yet to emerge.

Roshni Ghosh, producer at Locomotive Global Media, expressed her pride in adapting international formats for Indian viewers. She’s thrilled to introduce “Boat Story” in India, working with innovative minds and All3Media International to share captivating stories that provide an enjoyable viewing experience.

Jaenani Netra, All3Media International’s VP of sales for Asia and finished formats, commented: “This collaboration represents our initial scripted format agreement. ‘Boat Story’ offers elements of both suspense and dark comedy. Under the guidance of Mayank Sharma and Locomotive Global Media, we are excited to watch ‘Boat Story’ develop into a compelling production.”

Sharma expressed his joy about working on “Boat Story’s” adaptation, sharing that it’s an engaging and amusingly quirky series filled with relatable characters. Though we plan to maintain its core, we’re eager to add local influences and unique perspectives, ensuring a thrilling experience tailored for Indian audiences through action, humor, and suspense.
