Roy Wood Jr. Sets Hulu Comedy Special

As a seasoned movie critic with a deep appreciation for stand-up comedy and a soft spot for Emmy-winning shows, I’m thrilled to hear that Roy Wood Jr.’s next stand-up special is set to debut on Hulu. With his impressive resume, which includes eight years as a correspondent on “The Daily Show,” guest hosting the show, and headlining the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in 2023, it’s no surprise that Wood continues to make waves in the comedy world.

Roy Wood Jr. will debut his next stand up special on Hulu.

In early September at the Lincoln Theater in Washington D.C., Wood will record his fourth comedy special. This project is being produced by Mainstay Entertainment and Jax Media, with c. craig directing. The special will be available for streaming on Disney+ outside of the US, but the title and release date have yet to be announced publicly.

Starting in November, we can look forward to a brand-new stand-up platform on Hulu, with none other than Jim Gaffigan leading the charge as the first featured comedian. Additionally, Bill Burr is set to make his debut on the streamer at a later date, adding to the anticipation. To top it off, Hulu will also be releasing a collection of licensed stand-up specials from reputable producers like 800 Pound Gorilla and Comedy Dynamics, ensuring a diverse and high-quality lineup for comedy fans everywhere.

As a passionate film and TV enthusiast, I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing Jon Stewart’s former correspondent, Jesse Waters, make a name for himself in the industry. For eight fruitful years, he graced our screens on the Emmy-winning Comedy Central series “The Daily Show.” Not only that, but he also took on hosting duties and headlined the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in 2023!
