As a long-time fan of military shooter games, I was both excited and disappointed when Enlisted first arrived on Steam back in March. The prospect of a new entry in this genre with a focus on large-scale battles was enticing, but the controversial premium-only model and the requirement to link my Steam account with Gaijin’s platform left a bitter taste.

After being absent from Steam due to controversies in March, Enlisted has made its comeback. The launch of this war shooter game on Valve’s platform nearly 4 months ago did not go as planned, and now it is once again accessible for players.

The developers also released a launch trailer. You can watch the trailer below.

Two problems

Initially upon its release on Steam, players raised concerns about two primary aspects of “Enlisted.” To their credit, the developers have taken notice and made efforts to address these issues. However, it appears that one concern has not been completely resolved yet.

As someone who has been following the development of this game for quite some time and have been eagerly waiting to try out its newest features, I’m thrilled to hear that “Enlisted” is now freely available on Steam. Previously, it was only accessible as part of a premium package, which was a bit limiting for those who just wanted to give the game a test run before committing to a subscription.

As a gamer, I’ve encountered an inconvenience when it comes to linking my Steam and Gaijin accounts for the purpose of transferring my game progress. It’s not ideal, and here’s why:

  1. firstly, progression transfer will only be available for a limited time. This is supposed to result from technical problems that were mentioned in March;
  2. secondly, while many players managed to connect their accounts without any problems, some users are unable to make the transfer if their Steam account was already connected to the Gaijina client via War Thunder. The developers are already working on fixing this glitch (via Reddit).

Encouragement for players

To motivate fans to try out Enlisted, the creators arranged an event where you can collect silver coins for active gameplay. By joining a battle once, players can receive 3000 units of this currency. They have the opportunity to do this a maximum of three times, resulting in a grand total of 9000 silver coins earned.

Although challenges were present, it appears that the latest release of Enlisted has been met with greater enthusiasm than in March. Players have been expressing more favorable opinions compared to four months ago, even while voicing some concerns over the growing volume of premium material.
