Another Super Mario Boss Appears To Be Hiding In The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

A well-known villain from the Super Mario games seems to be secretly featured in the promotional materials for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Several bosses and mini-bosses from Super Mario and Luigi games have already been confirmed to appear in the follow-up to The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Bowser, Kamek, and Bowser Jr. are all returning for the next movie. The story will likely involve Bowser Jr. trying to rescue his father after the events of The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Trailers for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie have also shown that Mouser, Clawgrip, Megaleg, and Birdo will be appearing as well.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie May Include Boom Boom

A new boss for the Super Mario movie has been hinted at in the “Level Up” trailer. The trailer shows Princess Peach and Toad entering a bar filled with familiar Mario characters. At the 0:13 mark, a large hand appears on the right side of the screen, and it seems to belong to Boom Boom.

Boom Boom looks a lot like one of the Koopalings, and he’s a major enemy of Mario and Luigi in the classic 1988 game, Super Mario Bros. 3. He’s known for being incredibly strong and having a quick temper, so Mario needs to be careful and avoid his attacks when Boom Boom gets mad.

The character was absent for many years, but reappeared as a villain in Super Mario 3D Land. This game introduced Pom Pom, a female version of the character, and they initially fight separately before joining forces as a team.

What Boom Boom’s Role In The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Could Be

Look, I’ve been a Mario fan forever, and Boom Boom has always been a bit of an oddball. Sometimes he’s a proper villain you actually fight, and other times he’s just… there, another thing to jump over. Honestly, with how they’ve treated him in different games, I wouldn’t be surprised if the new movie just throws him in as a little nod to fans – maybe a quick background appearance, like one of the Goombas or Shy Guys. It wouldn’t shock me at all if that’s the route they go.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie could feature a thrilling action scene with Boom Boom, showcasing his powerful fighting style as fans remember from classic games. A moment where Princess Peach and Toad work together to beat him would be a nice nod to his significance in Super Mario 3D Land and Super Mario Bros. 3.
