Xbox Adds Throwback 360 "Blades" Dynamic Background To Make You Feel Old

As an avid gamer and proud owner of an original Xbox 360, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia with Microsoft’s latest announcement. The new dynamic background, modeled after the iconic “Blades” interface from the Xbox 360, instantly takes me back to my early gaming days.

Today, Microsoft made available a fresh, new dynamic background design for users to download. This background is modeled after the distinctive “Blades” theme initially presented with the Xbox 360.

I recall vividly the interface design from 2005 that left a lasting impression on me with its unique combination of green and grey hues. But let me clarify, this visually appealing background is merely static, offering no interactive elements for users to flip through. If you’d like to personalize your own background, follow these straightforward steps:

  • Press the Xbox button in the middle of the controller to bring up the menu
  • Scroll over to Profile & System and click Settings. Under the General tab, click on Personalization, then go to My Background then to Dynamic Backgrounds.
  • Under the Featured Tab, choose Xbox 360 Blades

Doesn’t it bring back memories? Try out the latest Xbox 360 Blades dynamic background, now available.

Although you’ll continue to access backward-compatible Xbox 360 games on Xbox One and Series X|S consoles via their digital stores, content exclusive to the Xbox 360 storefront will no longer be available after this date.

During the Xbox 360 period, around 2005 when it initially hit the market, Microsoft truly established the Xbox brand as significant and well-known. This era is so memorable that Mega even offers a $150 buildable model of the Xbox 360 as a tribute.
