Republican National Convention Reaches 18.1 Million Viewers Across Networks on First Night

As a cinephile with a deep appreciation for the art of storytelling and a keen interest in American politics, I found myself glued to my screen during the Republican National Convention‘s first night, eagerly awaiting the latest developments and surprises. The impressive viewership numbers, with 18.1 million viewers tuning in across networks, underscored the significance of this moment and the high stakes involved.

Approximately 18.1 million people tuned in to watch the Republican National Convention’s opening broadcasts on Monday, according to Nielsen’s data.

The total number is derived from Nielsen’s calculation of the viewership for twelve broadcasters and cable networks: ABC, CBS, NBC, Scripps News, Telemundo, CNN, FOX Business, FOX News Channel, MSNBC, Newsmax, NewsNation, and PBS. It is important to mention that Telemundo broadcasted the RNC for just 9 minutes according to Nielsen’s data.

Night 1 notably featured Donald Trump announcing JD Vance as his pick for vice president.

After careful consideration and evaluation of various candidates, I have chosen Senator J.D. Vance from Ohio to be my Vice President. His impressive background includes military service in the Marines, graduating from Ohio State University with honors in just two years, and earning his law degree from Yale, where he held leadership positions such as Editor of The Yale Law Journal and President of the Yale Law Veterans Association. Senator Vance’s bestselling book, “Hillbilly Elegy,” showcased the resilience of hardworking Americans, and he has enjoyed a prosperous career in technology and finance. During the campaign, his primary focus will be on advocating for American workers and farmers in key states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota, and beyond.
