Dr. Jack Abbott (Shawn Hatosy) is coming back in Season 2, Episode 7 of The Pitt, according to a new preview released by HBO Max. Fans are especially excited about one specific scene shown in the preview.
Honestly, after playing through The Pitt, I really needed something to lighten the mood. The story gets heavy, and after everything that happened – especially when Louie died in Season 2, Episode 6 – it was a relief to have a bit of levity. It’s a tough episode, and you definitely feel for the characters at the Trauma Center, so a little bit of fun is a welcome change.
Despite the progress, Dr. Robby and the team are still incredibly busy. In the next hour, the hospital is preparing for a surge of patients due to a critical emergency situation.
Things take another unexpected turn with the arrival of a new character and a puzzling announcement. However, a quick scene offered a glimmer of hope, leading fans to speculate about the fate of beloved Dr. Abbot.
The Pitt Season 2 Episode 7 preview sparks Abbot & Mohan theory
In the preview for The Pitt Season 2, Episode 7, at the 28-second mark, you can see a very brief clip – just one second long – of Dr. Abbot removing his shirt right as Dr. Samira Mohan (played by Supriya Ganesh) enters the room.
It looks like he has a back injury, and she’s probably just taking care of him. However, because many fans strongly root for a romantic relationship between Dr. Abbot and Dr. Mohan, this moment is causing a big reaction.
Someone noticed a moment in the show – at the 28-second mark – involving Abbott and Samira, leading to speculation that their connection might be romantic.
Someone else commented, in all caps, “Did anyone else see Samira opening the curtains and revealing a shirtless Abbot?? I don’t think I can handle this.”
The clip is also popular on TikTok, with fans excitedly reacting to the potential relationship. Comments included things like “Mohabbot shippers, unite!” and “This is great news for Mohabbot fans!” One user even expressed their shock and excitement, saying, “Mohabbot? I can’t believe it!”
This is the general sentiment about Abbot’s return, with many joking that “Daddy’s home.”

The connection between the characters Abbot and Mohan began in Season 1 of The Pitt, when Abbot helped Mohan through a risky heart surgery. While they clearly respect each other, some shared glances have led fans to wonder if there’s a deeper connection between them.
During the premiere of Season 2, Dr. Mohan star Supriya Ganesh hinted at a possible romantic connection. She told E! that her character, Samira, was so dedicated to her job last season that she didn’t realize anyone might be interested in her.
There’s a really interesting relationship between the two of them. He has a lot of respect for her and genuinely believes in her abilities.
She suggested her character is becoming more receptive to the clues Abbot gives, and added, “That really enhances their connection, and I’m looking forward to seeing how that plays out this season.”
Abbot wastes no time in The Pitt return

Fans are excited about a scene in the preview for Season 2, Episode 7 where Dr. Abbot sharply responds to new character Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi, in addition to hints about a possible romance (dubbed ‘Mohabbot breadcrumbs’).
She walks in while he’s treating a patient and asks what’s happening. He continues working, casually noting, “You must be Gloria’s new employee,” and gives her a playful smile.
Throughout the second season, Dr. Al-Hashimi and Dr. Robby have disagreed, with Dr. Al-Hashimi challenging Dr. Robby’s decisions and advocating for the use of artificial intelligence to improve their processes.
When Abbot refers to her as “Gloria’s new hire,” he’s implying she’s an outsider imposed by hospital management, not someone familiar with the daily realities of the ER.
One viewer commented, ‘You must be Gloria’s new hire.’ They were impressed with Dr. Jack Abbot, saying he immediately stole the show.
One viewer excitedly wrote, “Yes! I need Jack Abbot in every episode left this season or I’m losing it!” Another playfully commented on his character’s expression, saying, “What’s with that smug look, Dr. Abbot?”

Someone theorized that the man appearing later in the trailer might be connected to Dr. Al-Hashimi.
They believe the person who requested the meeting is likely close to Dr. Al-Hashimi. They suspect she used her influence with Dr. Robby, especially since Dr. Robby and Abbot had more seniority than her in the emergency room.
The next episode of The Pitt (Season 2, Episode 7) will be available on HBO Max on February 19th. In the meantime, you can explore fan theories about Season 3, learn what happened to Dr. Heather Collins, and discover other new shows coming to streaming this month.
