s1mple Comments on Long-Awaited Return to CS2

As a long-time CS:GO fan and follower of the esports scene, I can’t help but feel a pang of sadness every time I think about Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev’s extended absence from competitive Counter-Strike. The Ukrainian AWPer, widely regarded as the greatest of all time (GOAT), took a break in October 2023 to attend to personal matters, leaving his fans heartbroken and wondering when he would return.

Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev, a renowned CS:GO (Counter-Strike: Global Offensive) player, is widely regarded as the best of all time. In October 2023, fans were dismayed when the Ukrainian ace marksman announced an extended hiatus from competitive CS:GO to focus on personal matters.

Approximately a year has passed since s1mple finished in second position with NAVI at ESL Pro League Season 18. The most recent match where his performance was documented was on March 7, 2024, when he stood in for Team Falcons during the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown.

Now, s1mple has commended on his return after a light exchange about football with Thorin on X.

In true Thorin (Duncan Shields) style, when s1mple announced he had wagered on England but secretly supported Spain during Euro 2024, Thorin reacted by exclaiming, “Forget your feelings!” After some banter between them, Thorin then asked s1mple, “When will you be returning?”

That’s a bit hard question, hopefully soon

Simple’s comeback to competitive Counter-Strike isn’t specified with an exact date yet. Keep in mind that his only documented CS:GO match is from Team Falcons as a substitute on March 7, 2024.
