Last Epoch Console (PS5, PS4, Xbox, Switch) Release Explained

As a dedicated fan of action RPG games and someone who has been following Last Epoch since its Early Access days, I have grown increasingly excited about the prospect of playing this title on console. The idea of taking down hordes of monsters with immersive controller support on a larger screen is an enticing proposition that I simply cannot ignore.

The arrival of Last Epoch on Consoles

When Last Epoch exited Early Access on February 21st, ending its lengthy development phase and transforming into a full game, many eager gamers anticipated seeing this title on consoles. Regrettably, that dream has yet to materialize. The developers have made it known that they intend to bring Last Epoch to these platforms; PlayStation and Xbox are strong contenders for priority. However, a specific release date remains elusive.

No.

We have not started console development at all.

Following version 1.0, we’ll assess which other systems we intend to release the game on. PlayStation and Xbox are strong candidates for consideration.

We do not have a set timeline for the release of Last Epoch on console.

We do plan to bring it to console.

As a gamer, I want to share some context about the team behind Last Epoch. They’re called Eleventh Hour Games, an indie studio with just one game under their belt. Creating a port for different platforms is no small feat – it’s time-consuming and requires substantial human and financial resources. Not every independent studio can handle this additional workload, especially when they have big plans for future updates.

From a passionate fan’s perspective, I’m thrilled to share that the developers have been transparent about the console release of Last Epoch, although they haven’t given an exact timeline yet. Moreover, the game currently supports controllers on PC, which is a promising sign for those who prefer this control method. However, there’s room for improvement, particularly in the menu navigation. When fans have voiced their concerns about enhancing this aspect of the game, the developers’ response has been: “We hear you and are working to make our menus more user-friendly.”

For a long time, major software updates have included controller improvements, making controller functionality a fundamental aspect since the beginning.

As a gamer, I’d put it like this: I’m not holding my breath that Last Epoch will drop on consoles by 2024. All we can do now is keep our fingers crossed and hope for an update from Eleventh Hour Games.
