‘Spider-Noir’ Trailer Sees Nic Cage Slinging Webs and Fighting Crime in 1930s New York

Get ready for Spider-Noir this May in a unique Spider-Man story! This new live-action Marvel series, a Prime Original, has just released two trailers: one in classic black and white, and another in full color. You can check them both out below.

This eight-episode series is inspired by Marvel’s Spider-Man Noir comics. Nicolas Cage stars as Ben Reilly, a struggling private investigator in 1930s New York City haunted by his past and a personal tragedy, all while grappling with his former life as the city’s sole superhero.

As a huge comic book fan myself, I was thrilled when Nicolas Cage first lent his voice to Spider-Man Noir in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and even enjoyed his quick cameo in Across the Spider-Verse. But I’m really excited about his expanded role in the finally-released Beyond the Spider-Verse. Now, he’s leading his own live-action project as the character, and honestly, the trailers look amazing – it seems like Cage’s return to the world of comic book adaptations was absolutely worth the wait!

Nicolas Cage leads a talented cast including Lamorne Morris (known from Fargo and New Girl), Li Jun Li (Sinners, Babylon), Karen Rodriguez (The Hunting Wives, Acapulco), Abraham Popoola (Atlas, Slow Horses), Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire, Day of The Fight), and Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin, Harry Potter). The show also features guest appearances by Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, Cary Christopher, Michael Kostroff, Scott MacArthur, Joe Massingill, Whitney Rice, Amanda Schull, Andrew Caldwell, Amy Aquino, Andrew Robinson, and Kai Caster.

‘Spider-Noir’ Releases in 2026

Spider-Noir will first air on MGM+ on May 25, 2026, before becoming available to stream on Prime Video starting May 27. This means viewers will be able to watch all episodes back-to-back. Initially, many were surprised by the casting of Nicolas Cage as Spider-Man, but the recent trailers suggest he’s perfectly suited for the role of Ben Reilly in Spider-Noir.

I’m really excited about this series! Beyond the amazing cast, it’s visually stunning – it totally captures that classic film noir feel, like Humphrey Bogart could appear at any moment. It reminds me a lot of what Marvel did with Werewolf by Night, which was a huge hit because it leaned into that old Universal Horror vibe. They even released it in black and white and color! I think Spider-Noir could be the next perfect throwback special we didn’t even realize we were hoping for.
