Liam Neeson hasn’t heard from Sam Raimi about Darkman sequel
As a big fan of Sam Raimi’s work, I was excited to hear about a Darkman sequel! But it seems Liam Neeson hasn’t been asked to come back yet. He’s said he hasn’t even had a conversation with Raimi about it, which is a little surprising. It leaves his potential involvement totally up in the air, and honestly, I’m hoping they find a way to get him on board!
Liam Neeson recently told ScreenRant that while rumors of another ‘Dark Angel’ movie are circulating, no one has asked him to return as Dr. Peyton Westlake. He pointed out that he wasn’t involved in the two previous sequels, which went straight to video. He also wasn’t aware, at the time of the interview, that the new sequel would be a continuation of the original film.
Even though they haven’t spoken recently, the actor said he’d be happy to reprise his role. He’s eager to collaborate with the director again and wonders how his character could be updated for today’s viewers. “I’d really like to work with Sam,” he explained.
Okay, so “Darkman” came out in 1990, and it’s a really fun movie. Sam Raimi directed it, and Liam Neeson plays Dr. Westlake, a scientist whose life gets turned upside down. Basically, his girlfriend stumbles onto some shady stuff a big-time property developer is doing, and they brutally attack him, leaving him horribly burned. He survives, though, and ends up getting this experimental treatment that takes away his ability to feel pain but makes him super strong. It’s a wild ride!
Sam Raimi announced in late January that the script for the new film is finished. His production company, Ghost House Pictures, is supporting the project, but story details are being kept secret. As of now, it’s unclear if Liam Neeson will be involved in the Darkman sequel.
