A large sinkhole unexpectedly appeared at a subway construction site in Shanghai, causing a section of a road to collapse. Emergency teams quickly responded and closed several streets to manage the situation and prevent further damage.
A section of road collapsed on February 11th on Qixin Road in the Minhang District, reportedly due to a leak caused by subway construction, according to Stheadline.
Traffic stopped on several roads nearby, including parts of Qixin Road, while crews worked to secure the area and put emergency plans into action. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

According to the report, the leak happened in Section 18 of the Jia-Min Line project, which is currently being built by China Railway Tunnel Group. The area will stay closed until the necessary repairs are finished.
Online videos depict a large section of road suddenly collapsing, prompting workers to scramble to safety. A nearby temporary workspace was also swallowed by the ground as the sinkhole expanded.

The falling debris damaged an underground pipe, causing water to gush out and flood the impact area.
According to Stheadline, a different section of road nearby also collapsed in August 2023 while work was being done on the subway. So far, officials haven’t reported any additional problems caused by this latest collapse, and they are still trying to figure out what happened.
