Marvel Studios Confirms 12 MCU Avengers Are Now Parents

As a huge Marvel fan, I was so excited to see the latest trailer! It basically confirmed that another Avenger is now a parent in the MCU! It’s cool to see these heroes, who we’ve been following for 17 years, grow and change. Parenthood seems to be a big theme now, with more and more of them becoming parents, and it looks like that will continue as we head toward the end of the Multiverse Saga. It’s awesome to see these characters evolve beyond just being superheroes!

A trailer for the upcoming movie Avengers: Doomsday unexpectedly appeared online before the release of Avatar: Fire and Ash. The trailer centered on Chris Evans reprising his role as Steve Rogers, and revealed he now has a child – a significant development since his first appearance as Captain America in 2011.

Steve Rogers, looking at an old Captain America suit, then focuses on the baby he’s holding, suggesting he’s become a father. It’s unclear which of his comic book children this baby is. Since the scene takes place in the same home from the end of Avengers: Endgame, it’s likely he’s still with Peggy Carter, and she is the baby’s mother.

11 Other Avengers Who Are Parents in the MCU

Tony Stark

For over ten years, Robert Downey Jr. played the heroic Iron Man, protecting the world. In 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, he also took on the role of a father. The film hinted at this development in Avengers: Infinity War, and after a five-year time jump following Thanos’ devastating snap, Endgame revealed Tony Stark calling for his daughter, Morgan. Lexi Rabe beautifully portrayed young Morgan in several important scenes.

Pepper Potts

It wasn’t a surprise to fans that Tony Stark had a daughter, Morgan. The movie Endgame confirmed that Morgan’s mother was Pepper Potts, Tony’s long-time love. Following their engagement in Spider-Man: Homecoming and wedding plans in Infinity War, Endgame showed Pepper as a mother, particularly after Tony’s sacrifice to defeat Thanos.

Thor

Chris Hemsworth’s Thor has evolved over his ten years in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and his latest film, 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder, shows him becoming a father. He adopts a young girl named Love, who is the daughter of the villain Gorr, played by Christian Bale. Interestingly, Hemsworth’s own daughter, India Hemsworth, portrays Love in the movie.

Clint Barton

Clint Barton, also known as Hawkeye, was among the first heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe revealed to have a family, starting in the 2015 film Avengers: Age of Ultron. He has three children with his wife, Laura: a daughter named Lila, and sons Cooper and Nathaniel. The kids appeared in both Avengers: Endgame and the 2021 Disney+ series Hawkeye.

Scott Lang

Most of the Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe didn’t have children when their stories began, but Paul Rudd’s character, Scott Lang (Ant-Man), has been a father since his first appearance in 2015’s Ant-Man. Throughout his movies, his relationship with his daughter, Cassie, has been a central theme, and she eventually became a superhero herself – known as Stature – in the 2023 film Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.

Wanda Maximoff

Over the past twelve years in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Wanda Maximoff’s journey into motherhood has been a defining one. After giving birth to and raising twin sons, Billy and Tommy, during the events of WandaVision, Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch appeared in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness determined to find a reality where she could be reunited with her children, before seemingly being defeated and buried under Mount Wundagore.

Vision

In the Disney+ series WandaVision, Paul Bettany’s character, Vision, became a father to twins Billy and Tommy Maximoff. Bettany, who has been part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe the longest of any actor, will explore fatherhood again in the upcoming 2026 film VisionQuest, where he’ll meet a grown-up version of his son, Tommy.

Rocket

Rocket Raccoon and Groot, voiced by Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel respectively, share a special bond in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Their connection goes beyond teammates, as Rocket often acts as a father figure to Groot. This was especially true after Groot was reborn as Baby Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, when Rocket took the lead in caring for him until he fully grew, with help from the rest of the Guardians, as seen throughout the Multiverse Saga.

T’Challa

The relationship between the late Chadwick Boseman’s character, T’Challa, and his son is one of the most touching parts of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Before T’Challa’s death within the story, he and Nakia had a son, securing a new future leader for Wakanda.

Alexei Shostakov

Though not a biological father, David Harbour’s character, Alexei Shostakov (also known as Red Guardian), acts as a father figure in his appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the 2021 film Black Widow, he formed a father-daughter bond with both Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff and Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, and that relationship continued to develop in the 2025 film Thunderbolts.

John Walker

Wyatt Russell first appeared as John Walker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2021 with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. However, it wasn’t until a few years later that his character was shown as a father. In the 2025 film Thunderbolts , a flashback revealed John Walker caring for his son at home.
