As the Marvel Cinematic Universe moves toward the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars storylines, fans are eagerly speculating about which characters will participate and how the Avengers and the X-Men might interact.
With the next Avengers films on the horizon, there’s one team-up Marvel fans are really hoping to see. Despite some uncertainty, recent comments suggest a partnership between Thor and Storm is becoming increasingly likely, and Marvel Studios would be wise to consider it.
Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and Halle Berry’s Storm NEED An MCU Team-Up
While promoting their new film, Crime 101, Chris Hemsworth, Halle Berry, and Mark Ruffalo faced numerous questions about whether Halle Berry’s Storm character would be in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. Though a spot in Doomsday seems improbable, there’s still hope Storm could appear in Secret Wars, based on encouraging statements from Hemsworth and Berry.
Many fans are hoping to see Halle Berry reprise her role as Storm in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie, and she’s among the X-Men characters whose return hasn’t been officially announced.
Because filming for Secret Wars hasn’t started yet – it’s expected to begin in a few months – Marvel has the flexibility to add Storm to the story if it isn’t already planned. Even if it wasn’t already part of the movie’s plans, teaming up Chris Hemsworth’s Thor with Halle Berry’s Storm would be incredibly exciting for fans.
Thor and Storm have a history of powerful team-ups in the comics, combining their control over thunder and lightning, and it would be amazing to see that dynamic brought to life on screen. Plus, this movie would finally unite the Avengers and X-Men, maximizing the potential for incredible action.
Storm Wielded Mjolnir In What If…? (Now Let’s See It In Secret Wars)
Marvel has also hinted at a Storm/Thor combination in its animated series. In season 3 of Marvel’s What If…?, a version of Storm became the Goddess of Thunder and impressively wielded the hammer Mjolnir, quickly becoming a popular hero across different universes.
If the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars movie takes cues from the 2015 comic book storyline, we might see Storm as the Goddess of Thor appear in the film. Actress Halle Berry could potentially play this role as part of the Thor Corps, a group of Thors from different realities who work as a police force under the rule of Doctor Doom.
It would be fantastic to see Halle Berry reprise her role as Storm in any Marvel project, but a crossover with the Thor universe feels like the most logical fit.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to release on December 18th, 2026 from Marvel Studios.
