The are about to make the comeback that fans didn’t even know was coming.
According to ComicBook.com, a new Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic series will be released later this year, published by Penguin Random House. The exciting news is that Marguerite Bennett, who previously wrote Power Rangers: Beyond the Grid, is writing this new series as well.
The first issue of the new Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic, coming in 2026, will feature artwork by Andrew Lee Griffith and Phillip Sevy. Griffith is known for his work on Transformers, while Sevy previously illustrated The House. The digital version of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #1 is scheduled to be released on June 3rd.
Notably, Penguin Random House identifies BOOM! Studios as the publisher of this title, which is great news for fans. It means the next series of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comics will continue with the independent publisher that successfully revitalized the franchise a decade ago.
In 2016, BOOM! Studios launched its take on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, quickly becoming a standout addition to the long-running franchise. Led by writer Ryan Parrott, BOOM! Studios’ Power Rangers comics not only introduced fresh ideas and characters, but also reimagined established favorites.
Fans can get a sneak peek at the new Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series thanks to the first-ever Comics Giveaway Day, a follow-up to the popular Free Comic Book Day. The event takes place on May 2nd, and several publishers, including BOOM! Studios, are participating. They’ll be giving away titles like Power Rangers #0, which continues the story from the current Power Rangers Prime series as it wraps up.
What’s Next For Power Rangers Prime?
The comic series Power Rangers Prime will end with its 16th issue, which will be available on April 8th. After BOOM! Studios finished its long Power Rangers storyline, the entire universe was reimagined with a darker and more serious tone.
Readers are now entering a completely new world where the powerful Eltarian Empire rules and the Power Rangers are considered just legends. But hope remains in Lauren Shiba, the last remaining Ranger, who gathers a team of allies to become the world’s newest group of colorful heroes and fight to save it.
Fans are excited about the upcoming return of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to television. Though details are still limited, there’s a lot of optimism about the reboot, especially since the showrunners recently had success with Percy Jackson and the Olympians on the same streaming service.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #1 from BOOM! Studios and Penguin Random House goes on sale on June 3.
