CarterPCs, a popular TikTok creator, had his main account banned on February 8th, ending a years-long streak of daily video posts.
The CarterPCs account had over 6 million followers on the platform before it was taken down. The creator explained what happened in videos posted to his other account, CarterNotPCs, right after the ban.
In his initial statement on the matter, Carter explained he’d publicly voiced concerns about TikTok’s new owners and hadn’t anticipated his account might be taken down. He told his audience they were currently working to resolve the situation.
Carter says ban was for community guideline violations
In a recent video, Carter discussed how consistently he’d been posting online. He explained that since age 14, he’d uploaded four videos every single day – a streak he’d maintained without fail. Now 20 years old (and soon to be 21), he said losing the account felt like a big loss.
He explained that since he was fourteen, he’s consistently posted four videos every single day. He feels like this dedication means he’s sacrificing a significant portion of his life to creating content.
In a separate video, Carter explained that he first found his account locked, and then completely banned. He said the platform only told him the ban was due to a violation of their community guidelines.
He explained that his primary account, which has 6.1 million followers, was recently banned. He discovered the ban when he woke up and found his account locked, then received a notification stating it had been banned for violating community guidelines, with no further explanation.
Carter considered several reasons for the ban, wondering if his political opinions might have been a factor. While he wasn’t sure if it was intentional censorship, he also thought a simple technical mistake could have caused it.
Ugh, I’m so frustrated for him! He thinks either someone’s trying to silence him, or the app is just messed up again. He’s hoping it’s just a glitch that got him automatically flagged and banned, which honestly, that’s what I’m hoping too. He’s super grateful for all the support everyone’s been giving him while he tries to figure things out, and honestly, it’s awesome to see everyone rallying around him.
Despite having his main account taken down, Carter intends to keep creating and sharing content on his other account, and doesn’t see his consistent posting record as broken.
