Marvel Studios might be building on Captain America’s story in a significant way. A new report suggests that the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film will reveal the identity of Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter’s son, and this character could be very important to the emotional core of the next big Marvel movie involving the multiverse.
Steve and Peggy’s son in Avengers: Doomsday possibly revealed
I was so excited when Marvel hinted at Steve and Peggy having a child! It was a big mystery what his name would be, but a reliable source, MyTimeToShineHello, just revealed it – it’s James Rogers! They shared the news on X, saying it’s definitely him, and I’m thrilled to finally know!
The name seems to be a tribute to Steve Rogers’ close friend, Bucky Barnes, whose first name is James. Although an animated movie previously featured a character named James Rogers as Captain America’s son, the Marvel Cinematic Universe might be using the name for this new hero carrying on the legacy.
The story of how this family came to be is quite complicated. After the events of the movie Endgame, but before the end of Loki Season 2, Loki apparently found Steve Rogers living a life outside of the normal timeline with Peggy Carter and their son.
Loki cautioned Steve that the Time Variance Authority planned to eliminate their reality, as Steve’s presence disrupted the established timeline. To keep Steve and his family safe, Loki secretly moved them to another universe – specifically, the world of the Fantastic Four, known as Earth-828.
During the events of Avengers: Doomsday, Doctor Doom discovers Steve Rogers and alerts him to a dangerous multiversal threat. This leads Steve, along with the Fantastic Four and Doom, on a journey back to the primary Marvel Cinematic Universe (Earth-616). Reports from the set also suggest a scene filmed at a baseball stadium, showing Steve and his son living a life in this alternate reality.
Avengers: Doomsday, directed by the Russo Brothers, will release in theaters on December 18, 2026.
