So, in Code Vein 2, you’ll meet a bunch of characters, and getting to know them – building up your ‘affinity’ with them – is a big deal. It’s totally worth the effort because you can unlock some seriously rare and powerful weapons and items by doing so. I’m planning on spending a lot of time on this, honestly!
The game doesn’t explain how to build relationships very well, so it’s understandable if you’re unsure how to do it. This guide will break down all the different ways to increase your affinity with your partners.
This guide will help you build relationships with your partners in Code Vein 2, whether you’re aiming to unlock special items or earn the ‘Irreplaceable’ trophy. Keep reading to learn all about how affinity works in the game.
Affinity Explained

In Code Vein 2, Affinity represents your relationship with your partners and affects what items they offer in their shops. Building a strong Affinity can unlock new crafting recipes for useful items like weapons, consumables, and meals that will aid you in battle.
Becoming closer to a partner unlocks access to more unique items in their shop that you can buy. These items can’t be found anywhere else, and you’ll need Relationship Points to purchase them – you earn these points by increasing your relationship with that partner.
There isn’t a specific number that shows your affinity level, but you can get a good idea by talking to a partner in MagMell and choosing the ‘Trade’ option. Lots of available items mean high affinity, while very few items suggest low affinity.
How to Raise Affinity in Code Vein 2
In Code Vein 2, you can become closer to your partners in a couple of ways. One way is to give them gifts, which you can find while exploring the game world.
You can give your partner any gift you like, but some gifts will make them happier than others. When your partner really loves a gift, you’ll gain extra Relationship Points and improve your connection with them even more.
You can also improve your relationships with characters in Code Vein 2 by finishing their personal quests. These quests give you the largest increase in affinity, but each character only has a limited number of them.
You can also build stronger relationships with your partners by exploring the game world together. Almost anything you do while they’re with you and equipped will increase your bond, even if you’ve chosen to assimilate them.
You’ll strengthen your bond with your partners by defeating tough bosses and elite enemies. So, before you head into a dungeon boss fight, remember to equip the partner you want to build a relationship with!
Affinity Rewards
As we discussed earlier, building a strong relationship with your partners in MagMell will expand their inventory, giving them access to more items, consumables, and recipes. But the biggest benefit is the chance to unlock their unique weapon and Formae.
The characters you team up with in Code Vein 2 are all equipped with incredibly strong weapons, making it a high priority to build up your relationship with them early in the game.
