Popular YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson, known as MrBeast, addressed claims made by streamer RayAsianBoy that MrBeast’s TeamWater initiative was a scam, and made a significant proposal to RayAsianBoy in response.
MrBeast is famous not only for his over-the-top YouTube videos, but also for his charitable efforts. Through his Beast Philanthropy channel, he donates all of its earnings to support essential medical care in underserved communities.
Additionally, Donaldson has encouraged other content creators to support his Team Water, Team Seas, and Team Trees initiatives. His most recent project, Team Water, successfully raised $40 million to provide clean drinking water for over two million people for the next forty years.
Many popular streamers participated, but Twitch streamer RayAsianBoy playfully said he wouldn’t donate, figuring “they’ll be alright” without his contribution.
MrBeast offers to show Ray Team Water in action
MrBeast and Ray met at the Match For Hope event in Qatar on January 30th, and MrBeast used the opportunity to ask Ray a question.
MrBeast asked Ray if he really thought TeamWater was a scam, recalling a previous comment. Ray confirmed he did, apologizing and explaining he felt $40 million was an excessive amount. This led to an offer from MrBeast.
He was really questioning if I genuinely wanted to visit Africa, and jokingly called me a funny guy, then accused me of just trying to get a good clip for my videos. He even offered to take me to some tough neighborhoods if I was ever bored – he said he’d actually love to do it! It was a pretty unexpected offer, honestly.

Okay, so Team Water actually crushed their $40 million fundraising goal in just a month! It was insane. A huge fan even dropped almost $80,000 to be in a video with MrBeast, and that’s what finally pushed us over the finish line. Seriously, it was wild to watch it happen!
The streamer also collaborated with xQc and Adin Ross to raise $12 million on Kick, setting a new world record for the largest amount of money collected in a single stream.
Team Water’s donations are still active, as they’ve raised close to $42 million in total.
