A popular group of villains from the old Netflix Marvel shows is supposedly coming back in a future Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) project. Marvel Studios initially appeared to ignore the shows that originally streamed on Netflix from 2015 to 2019, but now they’ve changed their mind about incorporating those stories into the larger MCU.
Popular shows like Daredevil: Born Again are being revived, and fan favorites like Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, and Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones are returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Essentially, the stories of the former Defenders are getting a fresh start, and this creates opportunities to connect the current Marvel narrative with its past.
A recent report suggests that The Hand, the shadowy ninja organization from the old Marvel Netflix shows, might return in Season 3 of the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again. According to insider Daniel Richtman, Marvel is considering bringing the villainous group back into the fold.
The mysterious group known as the Hand played a major role in the later seasons of the original Daredevil series and the Defenders team-up event. It was during The Defenders that the Hand, as it was originally conceived in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was officially broken up. Elodie Yung’s character, Elektra, was put in charge and led the group to its end.

The original Defenders series ended with the team seemingly destroying The Hand by burying its leaders. However, this villainous group will return and be featured in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again Season 3.
Rumors are circulating that The Hand, a villainous organization previously seen on Netflix, might appear in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. While reports surfaced in December suggesting their return to face Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, these claims, like the latest ones, haven’t been officially confirmed.
The second season of Daredevil: Born Again will begin streaming on Disney+ on March 4th. Production for the show’s third season is scheduled to start in the coming weeks, with an expected release sometime in Spring 2027.
What Could The Hand’s Return Mean for the MCU?

As a big Daredevil fan, I’ve been hearing a lot lately about The Hand making a comeback. It seems like they’re involved in several different storylines now, and the upcoming season of Daredevil: Born Again is just the newest one they’re connected to.
We’ve known for a while that classic Marvel villains from the Netflix shows might appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Recently, a rumor surfaced suggesting these same villains could be the main antagonists in the upcoming Shang-Chi sequel, which is expected to be part of Phase 7 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
If the team returns, it could significantly impact the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially the new Daredevil series and its place within the broader story.
The last time we saw this group, Daredevil and the Defenders had defeated them, and their former friend Elektra seemingly perished with them. With The Hand potentially returning, Elektra could also come back – there’s been speculation about Elodie Yung reprising the role for a while, and this might be connected.
The story could also take a turn where Daredevil becomes the new leader of The Hand, taking over from Yung’s previous portrayal in the Netflix series. Rumors suggest the Born Again series might draw inspiration from the popular Daredevil: Shadowland comic book arc, where Matt Murdock returns to New York and leads The Hand in a conflict with Kingpin. (You can find more details about the Shadowland storyline here).
If this is true, The Hand might not return as the main enemies. Instead, it could become a base of operations for the Scarlet Scrapper as he continues his conflict with Vincent D’Onofrio’s character, who is now the mayor of New York City.
