Dr Disrespect responds after Highguard dev exposes fake preview event invite

Dr Disrespect is responding to criticism after a developer from Highguard revealed that his invitation to a preview event wasn’t genuine.

Following the exciting announcement of Highguard at The Game Awards 2025, the team at Wildlight Entertainment became very quiet. They didn’t share much news in the weeks before the game launched on January 26, 2026.

The silence surrounding the game ended just a few days ago when some content creators and journalists announced they’d had a chance to play it early at a private event. This was an exclusive opportunity, limited to invited guests – TopMob was among those in attendance.

Dr Disrespect, a popular streamer who has faced controversy, publicly claimed to be at the event. However, a developer quickly revealed that his invitation was actually a fabrication.

We drove our Lamborghini to Los Angeles last week to explore #Highguard.

Then, on Monday, January 26th at 10am Pacific Time, we’re launching into something new and exciting!

We’re really excited!

Dr Disrespect exposed for faking Highguard event invitation

Dr Disrespect posted a picture of what looked like his gaming setup at a preview event for Highguard. The photo showed a controller, headphones, keyboard, lanyard, and badge, making it seem like he was actually present at the session in Los Angeles.

Shortly after Dr Disrespect announced his post on January 25th, discussions arose regarding its appropriateness. Considering his history, many people questioned whether he should be included in this particular event.

Shortly after, another content creator named Macro confirmed Dr Disrespect wasn’t present, adding that anyone would have easily recognized him. He used harsh language, stating, “Everyone would’ve noticed that person a mile away.”

Shortly after, Chin Pua, the Creator Manager at Highguard, responded on X (formerly Twitter). He stated that Dr Disrespect was never invited to any Highguard event, and the badge he had was not official.

Hi everyone, I’m Chin, the Creator Manager for Highguard and Wildlight. I want to clarify that DDR was never invited to any Highguard event, either in the past or currently, and the badge they had wasn’t an official one.

It turned out that the image of Dr Disrespect circulating online was not genuine. Further examination revealed inconsistencies with the text on his badge. The original post on X (formerly Twitter) now includes a community correction highlighting this.

Dr Disrespect addresses fake Highguard event invite

Following comments from a developer at Highguard, Dr Disrespect was questioned about the issue during his own live stream of the game. He responded with laughter, sarcastically asking, “Seriously, how clueless are these people?”

“Gottem’,” the 43-year-old cosplayer said.

“They’re so f***ing stupid, I love it. We’re so ahead of these brainwashed idiots online.”
