To celebrate the release of Markiplier’s first movie, ‘Iron Lung,’ a blood drive is being held with the ambitious goal of collecting more blood donations in one day than ever before.
The horror film Iron Lung will be released in theaters on January 30, 2026. It’s based on the popular indie video game of the same name, and takes place on a faraway moon completely covered by a sea of blood.
Blood plays a major role in both the game and the movie. Markiplier even jokes that the production used a record-breaking amount of fake blood – over 80,000 gallons!
To mark the release of the film Iron Lung, some U.S. movie theaters are hosting blood drives. They hope to both address the ongoing blood shortage and set a new world record for charitable giving.
Iron Lung celebrates release with special blood drive
The Red Cross is facing a critical blood shortage. They’ve seen a 35% drop in donations this January, while hospitals need more blood than ever. This is largely due to harsh winter weather and a surge in illnesses like the flu, which are both impacting the blood supply.
Markiplier is hosting a blood drive to help address a critical blood shortage and also try to set a new world record for the most blood donations collected in one day.
Right now, we’ve gotten 37,018 donations, which is amazing! But honestly, if a ton of us show up to support Iron Lung on its opening night, we could totally smash that record. I’m really hoping we can!
How to participate in Markiplier’s Iron Lung blood drive
If you want to donate, you need to be at least 16 years old and weigh between 110 and 135 pounds, depending on where you are. Remember to bring a photo ID and drink plenty of fluids beforehand. It’s also important to feel well and have eaten a good meal before you donate.
Plus, you don’t need to buy a movie ticket just to donate blood at these locations. However, if you’re planning to see a movie afterward, it’s best to donate before you get settled in your seat.
If you can’t find a participating movie theater nearby, you can still donate blood at a local donation center. Just use the special sign-up link on the official Iron Lung website.

Mark is famous online, but he also uses his platform to help others. Throughout his career, he and his followers have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to various charities.
So, they just announced an official Iron Lung popcorn bucket, which is awesome! You can grab one at Regal cinemas nationwide. But get this – if you 3D print your own, you can actually bring it to a Regal and they’ll give you a small popcorn for free! Seriously, a free popcorn just for being a dedicated fan – I’m definitely printing one!
