The TV miniseries 11.22.63, created by James Franco and J.J. Abrams, is now available on a new streaming service. It first appeared on Hulu in 2016, but became available on Netflix in early January 2026.
The series 11.22.63, created by Bridget Carpenter and executive produced by J.J. Abrams, is currently a hit on Netflix. As of January 26th, it’s ranked at number 7 on the platform, a rise of two positions from its previous spot, according to data from FlixPatrol.
As a huge fan of Stephen King and a bit of a history buff, I really enjoyed 11.22.63. It’s a thrilling sci-fi series based on his novel of the same name, and stars James Franco as a high school teacher who gets the chance to travel back in time. The whole premise is that he’s trying to prevent the assassination of JFK, which, as we all know, happened on November 22nd, 1963. The cast is fantastic – you’ve got Chris Cooper, Sarah Gadon, and a bunch of other great actors. James Franco wasn’t just in front of the camera either, he was a producer on the show, which first came out on Hulu back in February 2016.
Both viewers and critics enjoyed the show, giving it an 83% score on Rotten Tomatoes from critics and an 88% rating from the audience. Originally streaming on Hulu in 2024, 11.22.63 moved to Tubi briefly before becoming available on Netflix in January 2026. The series follows an English teacher who goes back in time to try and stop the assassination of President Kennedy, only to find himself connected to the life he’s built in the past.
King Talks Time Travel
In a recent conversation, the speaker discussed the difficulty of altering the past, explaining that while changes might sometimes be possible, attempts to do so often fail and can even backfire. They also highlighted how love—specifically, the character Jake falling in love with someone from the past—adds another layer of complexity to the situation.
Besides 11.22.63, another Stephen King adaptation is currently popular. Welcome to Derry is ranking tenth on Prime Video in the U.S. as of January 26th. Both shows are also performing well on iTunes – 11.22.63 is charting worldwide and Welcome to Derry is currently number four globally.
11.22.63 consists of eight episodes, all of which are streaming on Netflix.
