A man was arrested after allegedly attacking Florida Representative Maxwell Frost at the Sundance Film Festival. Reports indicate Christian Joel Young faces multiple felony charges for the assault, which occurred at a party hosted by CAA on Friday. Representative Frost shared on Twitter that the attacker made comments about deportation and used racist language before punching him. Frost stated he is doing okay and that the man was taken into custody.
According to a Park City Police Department spokesperson, the suspect, Young, was initially denied entry to the party because he didn’t have an invitation. He reportedly entered anyway and then assaulted both Frost and another woman. He now faces charges of simple assault and aggravated burglary – two counts of each – and could face additional penalties if convicted.
A Sundance Film Festival representative stated that the festival strongly condemns the attack. They emphasized that even though the incident happened at an event not officially part of the festival, such behavior is unacceptable and goes against their commitment to creating a safe and positive experience for everyone. The festival’s top priority is the safety of its attendees, and they are sending their support to Congressman Frost and wishing him a full recovery.
