Tom Holland Explains Why He Doesn’t See His New Spider-Man Flick As Just A ‘Fourth Movie’ In A Franchise

It’s been a while since Tom Holland last played Spider-Man, but he’s back to work on the role! He’s currently filming *Brand New Day*, a highly anticipated new Marvel movie. While it’s the fourth Spider-Man film with Holland as the lead, he doesn’t consider it the fourth in a traditional series, and recently explained why.

As of right now, the fan-favorite British actor has managed to avoid spilling spoilers about his upcoming superhero movie. Yet he has been sharing keen insight into how he’s approached the film from a creative standpoint. Tom Holland recently caught up with Complex and touched upon what fans can expect from his latest big-screen outing as the famous wall crawler. Based on his comments (which were shared to Instagram), viewers are in for much more than just a “fourth movie” in a saga:

It doesn’t feel like we’re continuing the story with a fourth movie; it feels like we’re starting a whole new one. This is a fresh beginning for Spider-Man, a complete reinvention called *Spider-Man: Brand New Day*.

It seems the experienced actors behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe aren’t content with past success. They’re aiming for a new direction in Spider-Man’s story, something truly different from previous films, which should be great news for fans. I’ve enjoyed the Spider-Man movies so far, but I’m really looking forward to seeing something new, particularly now that Peter Parker is facing a completely unique situation.

More on Spider-Man

The new Spider-Man comic, ‘Brand New Day,’ is introducing the Scorpion, and I think a familiar old villain could be connected to his arrival.

The movie *Spider-Man: No Way Home* ends with Doctor Strange erasing everyone’s memory of Peter Parker, including his friends MJ and Ned. Even though he’s lost his support system – his friends and Aunt May – Peter still chooses to continue fighting crime as Spider-Man. The next movie, currently titled *Brand New Day*, is expected to follow a similar story to a 2008 comic book arc where Peter had to rebuild his life after making a deal with the villain Mephisto.

Tom Holland is very excited about filming Brand New Day. He shared a popular video in August showing off his Spider-Man suit and eagerly asking the crew to begin. Photos from the set quickly spread online, and Holland later shared how meaningful it was to connect with fans on the first day. He’s also been actively advocating for his creative vision for the new movie.

Disney+ is available to subscribe to, offering access to Spider-Man movies and shows. Plans start at $9.99 per month with ads, or you can choose an ad-free plan for $15.99 per month. For even more savings, you can prepay for a year for $159.99 – a 16% discount. See the deal here!

Tom Holland’s recent comments about his new *Spider-Man* movie suggest he’s very confident and feels more creatively involved with the character than before. His enthusiasm is building a lot of excitement, and I’m eagerly anticipating the film. He used the word “rebirth,” which makes me hopeful we’ll see a *Spider-Man* movie that surprises everyone.

The new Spider-Man movie, *Spider-Man: Brand New Day*, will be released in theaters on July 31st, 2026. Until then, you can enjoy other Spider-Man films and TV series by subscribing to Disney+.
